That's kind of an odd list...I mean I should be thankful for the Japanese men and women who come up with all this great technology right? But it looks like it's a different type of gratefulness. I chose electronics.

I'm impressed no-ones voted for Hentai/AV...why was it even put into the poll in the first place?

For me it's the engineering and various technologies they have contributed.

I personally am grateful for all, So I am not voting ^_^

I like japanese food alot, its not fattening, and also the video games are good. But I am mostly grateful for martial arts, not only because they are entertaining to watch, but are handy in all that self-defense and stuff. I'm taking karate lessons, and although I'm not very good with remembering all the names for those stances and stuff, it makes your reflexes alot faster, too. Which means less bruises from playing soccer and baseball and stuff. Yay!

Thats what I voted for. But like most I am grateful for a lot of what they have done. Except I can care less about their hentai.

I remember this interview in Spin magazine with Biz Markie & the Beastie Boys. Biz Markie asks them "Why are you guys so into the Japanese culture?" (I'm paraphrasing this of course) & one of them said
"They either have stuff that we don't have anymore or somethiing new that we don't have yet."
Makes sense to me.
