would any one say that the group system is still part of the culture.

MY japanese friend yesterday told me that in her English Class here in UK the various students from different countries were describing the way tourists behave. Apparently it is easy to recognise a group of japanese tourists as they visit famous places take lots of photographs then rush off to the next destination -- then when they go to a restaurant they all eat the same food. I wonder if the younger generation are like that as always choosing to eat the identical meal. Maybe they all like to eat the same food.

MM I do wonder as when I had two japanese students stay with me they were lovely girls so polite and when we took them out for a meal they chose different meals--

I found them very thoughtful and caring--more so I think than some of our own people although one can not generalise.

I like their attitude about minimalism and perfection.

They can do/make something that's looked very simple and not complex, but on the inside it's perfect.
