What is Japan really famous for?

From what i've been hearing, Japan is famous for its anime and technology.
What do you think?

Japanese culture..

what about the samurai, the amazing art, there must be so many things.

All the buddhist shrines. the beautiful kimono's.

The hard work they do== working long hours.

Kome Kome Club's 1998 song "Funk Fujiyama" cleverly pokes fun at foreign stereotypes and caricatures about Japan including Samurai, Ninja, Geisha, Pagodas, Kamikaze Pilots, Mt. Fuji, the "Hino Maru" flag, Sailor Uniform students, Yakuza, Salary Men, Sumo Wrestlers etc.

The other stuff like Anime, manga and brand names like Sanrio-Hello Kitty are more along the lines of Japanese pop-culture stuff. Jpop and its artists like Utada, Koda Kumi, Hamasaki Ayumi, AKB48 etc. are starting to become more and more known especially in Asia.

The Shinkansen, Onsens, Sakura flowers, sushi and sake are also pretty identifiable with Japan.

Harajuku.
Japan is famous for it's language -> everyone know Konnichiwa and Arigatou.
Sushi.
Love Hotels?

Eh, most people wouldn't know what those are unless they're actively studying Japanese culture, IMO.

I wasn't really sure though :o

I think, that evrybody knows that Japan is a own (little) world.

And I think that's the famous and interesting thing in japan, including other things ofc. :)
