Honestly I think it's both a lot easier AND a lot harder.

People tend to have very different and unfounded ideas and curiosities and past experiences relating to foreigners.
Of my gf's friends, some are seriously so NOT into foreigners that they even felt it strange that she is with me. Others are wildly jealous of her. Some simply have no clue and are just inquisitive.
Many others had all these wild misconceptions about what it meant or would be like to have a foreign bf, some really ridiculous shit too.

One of her friends expected that I'd want to be a stay-at-home-dad asap and stop working to leave the salarywoman responsibility to my gf..

In other words, most people simply don't know.
They think we are sex gods, or they think we have soft penises, they think we do all the housework, they think we talk to much, they think we stink, they think we know zero Japanese, or they think we are obviously fluent, they think we are in the military or that we are violent and love to show off muscles, they think so many things and most of all they think nothing or just don't care.

When it comes to one night stands, it's easy for Japanese men too lol, not just westerners, but I definitely had more luck than my friends when I first got here :) including not getting chlamydia like he did lol ><

The women in Japan were very feminine, cute, and polite with innocent stares of curiosity. However, every time I played a fighting game at an arcade a Japanese guy would enter into a match with me unannounced (the fighting sims are linked in the arcades which was new TO ME at least) and effectively kick my ass.

Ahh, are you talking about this from a resident/long time stayer point of view, or a tourist one? I assumed you meant for tourists before. It would be a lot harder for them right? In terms of a resident, then yeah I see where you're coming from.

Yeah, I guess it all depend on what girl you find, just like anywhere else. But still, I never expected it to be that out in the open. :L

I'm guessing your last paragraph relates to one night stands as a resident too? Seems as you had Japanese friends to take you around and such. Or would you say it's just as easy for a tourist too?

You are right. Japanese girls just looked curious. Local men - like it'd be in every country - feel insecure about this. So, during my last trips in Japan I sometimes experienced embarrassing situations when a young Japanese girl sat near to me. Japanese men started coughing loudly and disturbing. They extremly fantasize about a foreigner and a Japanese girl. Fukuoka and Kyuushu men were mostly fantasizing and disturbing. It was impossible to work or to answer my e-mails. I each time went back to quiet hotel room:mad:
In the truth, Japanese girls want that Japanese men court them.

Maybe you should try and do it back to them one day if you happen to be there.

I advise against causing any trouble or starting anything that can ause trouble in Japan, regardless of being a tourist or having a work/study visa...

Why are you so upset about this? People like everything what is different.

For example, when I walk around in Frankfurt and a beautiful Asian girl walks by, I can't help but stare. It's because I rarely see it over here.. same goes for handsome Asian men.

And most of them time, I wish I could spend time with her or do naughty things to her haha :)
