Japan to lower age of majority from 20 to 18
Officials have announced that the Japanese government is set to lower the age of majority -- the age from which one is legally an adult in Japan -- from 20 to 18.
The government will submit bills to revise the Civil Code and other relevant legislation to the Diet during an extraordinary Diet session in the autumn of 2009, or a regular Diet session in 2010. Source: Gov't to lower the age of majority to 18 from current 20 | Mainichi |
just like in my country.the adult age here starts when a person becomes 18.
So they lower the minimum age of adults to 18 because then the young adults could vote? |
Legal age in the US. is 21...
Americans are sent to the army to handle lethal weapons at 18 but they can't have a glass of beer  By the way, I'm 23 :mtongue: |

I've been wondering that for a while. 18= become an adult+go to war+vote
21= legal drinking age. Something is definitely not right with this equation. |
So does that mean they're lowing the drinking age? Last time I checked wikipedia, it said the drinking age in Japan is 20.

I wonder in Japan legal age is 20. But there are people of the age of 18 can go into adult video industry. isn't it weird?
