Depends, Airfair is roughly £900 (about $1500 at curent exchange rate) from the UK (probly cheaper in the US since it is closer to Japan). If staying with someone or a family it would be much cheaper than a hotel, so it can be done I guess. Plus prices were dirt cheaper in 2000 than they are today.

wich is why i said "with accomodations" :mtongue:

obviously it's cheaper living with a friend or family memeber :D and living on $500 wouldn't be too enjoyable, but yes it is do able

For 3 months. You can pull off quite a bit if you`re determined and up to a challenge.

with accomodations? also, it'd be hard to travel on that which would make things quite dull for that amount of time. seems pretty amazing to me

Lol!!!!!!
I'm happy for you and totally jealous!

I was offered the same experience at my school at your age(ha! Last year) and I couldn't go, because I had another trip already planned(and this one was free). But I'm kind of glad I didn't go because it would have been with A) stupid rich kids and B) Japanese people who'd think I was some dumb anime-obsessor who didn't care about the true culture of Japan.

And it was $5000 for me too. I don't have that kind of money. But thank you everyone, it's very nice to know I've been totally ignorant and didn't know you can get to Japan that much cheaper!

sorry that didn't really flow, local foundations paid around 5,000$ of my tuition, it was a big help

Your 14..So what of it?Grab a couple of older people u know,(friends, neighbours, family,Relatives, schoolmates) and go with them to Japan,U dont neccessarily have to go alone,By the way i am spending 2.5 K SGD For 10 days in Japan and i expect myself to live the life.however see it i really doubt 5000 is worth the money,Even if the 'inclusive trip' ur talking about includes expensive dine outs and what not,You gotta immense urself into the middle class to really appreciate essence of any country
