"Naked" Sushi
I was reading a few days ago on a website of what they are calling "Naked Sushi" arriving in Korea.
Apparantly it originated in Japan. Just wondering if anyone has had the saucy experience of eating at a naked Sushi establishment and if so, how was it and what is the exact scenario regarding the "cleaning" of the plate;) |
It is called "nyotaimori" or 女体盛り and I think it exists more in TV shows and movies than much in real life.

I just did a search using nyotaimori and it seems more popular than we think;) ![]() Here's a link with video for all interested and it seems to be rather common in the US. Nyotaimori - naked sushi… at Sushi or Death You'd wanna make sure the plte had been well cleaned! |
ive heard of this being done with other foods too, just not sushi....uhhh yeah im just wondering who the hell thought of it

"Hadaka sushi is one of the few places where you can actually order Nyotaimori" "A Nyataimori...modell at Hadaka costs according to their website $1100 and does not include food, beverage, room charge, tax or gratuity. " (How many people do you know who are willing to pay that much for a meal before even ordering the food?) "Westerners say it is Japanese, while Japenese consider this to be a Western or even a Chinese phenomenon....it is considered quite rare." |
Most everyone in Japan first encounters this idea in US produced movies about Asia or Asian crime groups (yakuza, etc). It`s not at all something people consider to be something REAL. Sure, there are likely a few places out there that do it as novelty, but I agree - by no stretch of the imagination does it even approach "common". Particularly in Japan.
