I'm a Pescetarian. (and no, it isn't some strange religious cult)

Hackimoto 07-16-2008 09:50 PM

That must mean that you eat fish, right?
I've never been exclusively vegetarian, but I do know how to make some really kick ass falafel.

Haggis 07-16-2008 09:55 PM

Yeah, I was a bit worried when I went to Japan about what I would eat, 'cos I don't eat meat. But the seafood dishes I had were wonderful, so much better than in my own country.

Generally, but, I dislike the idea of humans being vegetarian. We owe our entire civilization and intellect to our quest for meat way back at the dawn of mankinds time. It is natural for us to eat meat.

Even though I feel sorry for the duck, I need the fuel.

Honest post. But how do you explain Brahmins, vegans from ancient times and yet brilliant?

It is well known that early man was hunted by various species of large cat, and it was in his interest to cut the carcas up quickly and make an escape with the meal to safety to eat.

So not only is meat responsible for mans first tools, which are the grandfather of tools we still have today, like the axe, yet the meat diet of man also coincides with a large jump in brain size. The idea of organized hunting would challenge a stupid animal, this is why predators almost always have brains twice the size of their prey. Yet, also, the meat eaten has the exact vitamins and minerals in it to help fuel brain development.

The whole concept and everything about mans first meat meal is what triggered the entire future as we have for mankind. We are like this today solely because our ancestors were omnivores.

A person might be able to live a healthy life without meat for one life time, yet most will find they have deficencies and have to take supplements to combat their unatural diet. But it goes without saying, if meat was removed from mans diet altogether it could seriously change the species we are today.

Meat is a natural diet for us.

Oke. I hear ya..
But our ancestors were people who didn't have the food we have today.
We can prepare ourselves a lot of meals that do not include meat,
a lot of vegetables are delicious and good for you.

Just look in a cook book or on the internet.
There is so much you could make for yourself.

I, for instance, also eat normal food, like patatoes (no idea how to spell that) and vegetables. But instead of meat I eat substitood meat. Instead of meatballs, they have these delicious balls made out of soja and vegetables.
I love those.. I eat them regurally so I know what I'm talking about ^^

Hm, well I've been vegetarian for almost 2 years... and I used to absolutely LOVE meat... But now it just grosses me out, as I started thinking "wait.. why do we eat cows but not dogs or cats? I have a cat.. cats are alive.. so are cows... Oh. >_<"
So yeah, it was hard for me at first but now I don't have any problems with it at all. And there's lotsa yummy meat substitutes out there- Quorn is my fave, it tastes so much like chicken it's frightening. And Morningstar sausage patties are good too... Good luck!
