Sushi across the USA
i was visiting my mom in colorado this past week.. fort collins to be exact.. its such a western town, so many american/mexican restaurants.. but it made me happy to see that there was an oriental restaurant, japanese to be exact, and it was just a site to behold.. there was a bar in one end with a restaurant kinda in the same area, and towards the back they had a part of the restaurant where they had an open sushi bar, and a sit down area, where there were actually no chairs whatsoever, true authentic japanese. the name was Suehiro, and its down in old town district at fort collins.. anyone have any experience with a true japanese restaurant in other parts of the country? i thought it would be a neat thing to talk about.. though im not sure if theres already one here. so gomen...

I don't like those USA hybrid sushis they make. As long as theirs rice in it i'm fine. That place sounds and very tradition for there to be no chairs.
|
I like ham egg and cheese ramen. Sounds gross but good.
|
definetely traditional, which is hard to find in usa i think.. at lesat in boston i havent seen anything like it. so it was definetely a treat to be able to see one up close and personal

I can't think of anyone that'd turn down sushi!

I believe most people tried sushi. Occasionally, I do eat sushi, but not a big fan of it, though. Once, when I was in Saitama as a guest, the host ordered some elaborate-looking sushi for us. Everything was okay until I tried the squid sushi. Somehow, the 'rawness' in texture and taste of the squid was too much for me. I tried to swallow it but it just didn't want to go down the throat. It twisted and turned all over inside my mouth except go down. I felt like spitting them out but then, that would be an embarassing thing to do. Finally, I took one big gulp of ocha and gulped everything down in a jiffy. Phew, and that was the last time I had squid sushi!
Maybe not squid, but had anyone had such an experience before? |
