I adore sushi and I have goldfish in an aquarium at home. The goldfish food smells like rotted fish and seaweed, not what is served in restaurants. And it smells that way to attract the fish's attention.

Besides, sushi does not require the inclusion of fish anyway. There are several common vegetable nigiri that most Japanese restaurants will make for you. And they may even be wrapped in something other than norii (seaweed), like cucumber. Use some imagination or ask for something vegetarian. Most chefs can accomodate that, though the choices may be limited.

Otherwise, I tend to agree with those who recommended switching to a different style restaurant - like Asian Fusion where you can get Thai and other cuisines that offer more vegetarian variety.

Where can you buy sushi rice bowls and other things to make it. I have been trying to find stuff in my city, and haven't had much luck

Three cheers for sushi! :) My personal favorite is salmon and cream cheese (and yes, I like California rolls. :P). As others have mentioned, sushi can be awfully expensive so I don't have it as often as I might like to. But at home I make my own sort of version of sushi without rice using seaweed wrap bought from the Asian market, spinach, cream cheese, cucumbers, avacado, and carrot. Yum yum!

All the pictures in here are making me hungry....

OMG I totally LOVE sushi, both fish and veggie varieties, and is well worth the little bit pricey extra by far each time :)
