When I first saw your post I was like "No, wife is 老婆" but then I remembered that is Chinese. The joys of studying two Hanzi/Kanji using languages.

This is a Japanese kanji thread. I don't think the kanji that aren't used in Japan should be introduced in this thread. It will only confuse the Japanese learners. Hope you understand. :)

"ワン" is an on reading (meaning it came from Chinese), therefore, it should be written in Katakana (the "boxy" script used for spelling foreign words), as opposed to Hiragana (the "curvy" script). I think that on readings should be be spelled in Katakana, or else Japanese learners will be confused. Hope you understand :)
