Looking for a book

Well, I feel that I'm neglecting reading way too much. So I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on a book that would be good to read for a beginner? Any recommendations would be great, thank you.

There's loads of children's books written only in kana. I've never read any though, so I can't make a specific recommendation. You could also try some easy manga, such as Doraemon.

Also, I suppose it would help for me to say something about how much I know of Japanese. I've been going through Tae Kim's Japanese guide to Japanese grammar for grammar and have been learning Kanji through Remembering the Kanji by Heisig. I've learned 387kanji in a little over a month with that (no readings though) and am in compound sentences in Tae Kim's grammar guide. My vocabulary is pretty small :\. Hope this helps for you guys to recommend things, thank you again!

I'm popping to Tokyo later in the week, and intend to get some children's picture books and early reading materials. If I find any good ones I'll let you know what they are

No, but just purchased this one online.. The postage was more than the book!

Awesome book for the kids. Kai also has it's sister cat book
