Yeah I'd always assumed オッス=おはようございます and ウィッス was just a bastardization of that like "homeboy" became "homey" became "homes."

I think it is. Also there's "azuss" for "ありがとうございます” and so forth. This is interesting, I think I'm gonna go ahead and compile a list. :3
