Just a quick question... how do you guys type in Japanese... I understand that if you are in Japan, you are most likely typing on a Japanese keyboard... but for those of you who are not... how do you do it?... I know that the font MS Mincho contains Kanji... but you have to insert them into your text a certain way... I was just wondering how you type it... thanx for any help anyone has to offer... I am currently learning Japanese on my own and I am going to be a regular here in this forum and would like to type in Kanji and Kana as well

There is a language support pack that should either already be on your computer, or you can download from the internet. If its on your computer already, it should be under "Regional and Language Options" in the control panel, but its been so long since I actually installed it, that I'm not sure anymore. At the very least you can always just do a google search for Japanese Language Pack or Global IME (Japanese). Something like that anyways...:D

u can as well follow what I did , Go to control Panel --> Regional and Language option -->Language tab -->check the Ïnstall files or complex script....blah blah" box , then go to Adcanced tab , u can select language for non-Unicode programs here , and check the Code page conversion tables , make sure u select 10001(Mac - Japanese) . And in the Languages tab , u can add Japanese input by fist clicking "Details" , then "Add.." . I think this will do , cuz Ive bin using this setting all along.

I'm using a software name NJStar to type the japanese words..^^
You search that software from Google... I get from there too..

Windows supports Japanese in the language bar. If you use Windows you don't need to use any special program, and you don't need a special keyboard.

Thank you all very much... this helped alot... I followed these instructions and am using the Language bar... but all I can get to work is kana... I cannot type any kanji... what have I done wrong?:confused:
