iki? tigai? tukuri? deki? nomi? tabe? LMAO None of those are correct verbs. At least two of them aren't even verbs!

Sorry, silversoraryuu, but masaegu is right.

The list you just put up is basically right, but the first one you put up was not. This list is of formal speech, and is the right place to start for beginners, but your first list, was, unfortunately not. I can easily see how you made that mistake. I think it's a great you are trying to help someone get started, but there is a reason they don't let yellow belts teach white belts.

Don't be discouraged, keep on studying and learning, but also don't call a native speaker, masaegu, a baka for correcting you.

I think the point is that a beginner shouldn't be teaching another beginner Japanese. Specifically, the words you posted are either in the wrong form, or not even verbs at all. The odd romanization style (which isn't necessilary incorrect, just unusual) also makes it harder for the learner.

I'd advise first that you improve your own English grammar before trying to teach someone else Japanese grammar.

Let's not be TOO hard on him. He was just trying to share what he knew.

But this is a good lesson that even in 2007, information isn't free, and you get what you pay for. You want to learn Japanese? Get into a class, get a tutor, or get to Japan.

silversoraryuu 10-28-2007 01:37 PM

im just copying rite out of the text book. i guess i need a new book.
