I probably answered this already..but I love it because...It just feels right. It feels like exactly my type of music... I was for a while ONLY interested in jrock/visual kei...but now I'm kind of expanding my tastes again.

Still, I think it will always be special for me. And my top favorite band and solo artist are heidi. and Miyavi respectively. So I guess I'm still pretty crazy about it.

It's different..I feel like visual kei has a style all its own, and it was exactly right for me at that time. There's nothing like it really in American music for instance, so maybe that's also why I was drawn to it so much.

I originally started listening to Japanese music in 2005. A friend of mine at the time let me listen to Gackt, Hyde, and Miyavi and I was hooked. I found the other bands I like through research. 90% of the music I've listened to since then has been Japanese, but I also listen to Korean and Chinese music now as well. The Japanese bands I listen to the most are L'Arc~en~Ciel, D'espairs Ray, Dio-Distraught Overlord, 12012, Baiser, Exist Trace, Aikaryu, BLOOD, Ayabie, Calmando Qual, The Candy Spooky Theater, Duel Jewel, Mix Speakers Inc, Due le Quartz, Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, Lareine, GPKISM, Schwarz Stein, Inugami Circus Dan, Janne Da Arc, Acid Black Cherry, Kagrra, MUCC, KuRt, LM.C, Phantasmagoria, Psycho le Cemu, Sadie, Shelly Trip Realize, Versailles, and UnsraW. I found all of the bands I listen to on my own except for the first few. And I got hooked because none of it sounds anything like the American music I was listening to at the time (stuff like Evanescence, Kittie, Jack Off Jill, Otep) and there are some truly incredible voices in the Japanese music scene. And the Japanese language is just incredible and beautiful to listen to. I very rarely listen to non-Asian music and haven't for nearly 5 years :P so I'm a little behind on the music in my own country.

I feel that there no reason to be ashamed about listening to not just japanese but also korean music as well. There nothing wrong with it even if i dont understand any of the lyrics (i dont speak japanese or korean lol).

The first part was was 'Why listen to Japanese music?' - I've no idea what 'kakkoi' is, but I know the last part 'mitai' was 'want to see'. Although I agree in the English parts of the forum people should kind of explain in English what they mean, not speak exclusively in Japanese :S It does seem like showing off and not fair.

i first got into Jrock in mid October of 2008...so basically, a year and 3 months ago ^^
One of my friends on myspace posted a bulletin with a video in it. I checked it out, and it was Cassis, by the GazettE. I thought it was a lovely song, and i checked out more of their music. They are still my favorite alongside X Japan, hide, D'espairsRay, Alice Nine, Dir en grey, An Cafe, LM.C...and a lot more ^^
Pretty much everyone I go to school with knows I love Jrock, even if we aren't friends because i have pictures plastered on my folders/binders :P

I found out about japanese music because i the found a Yuko Ogurasong "Vitamin Love" in a related videos and i feel in love with the song. Then i started searching japanese music and thats how i found out about my favorite group C-ute. Before all this however i was already obsessed with everything japanese and learning japanese which explains why it was in the related videos x]

I started listening to japanese/korean music about two years ago, but had been exposed to it years previous by friends and family. Dir En Grey was my first japanese band that I really got interested in and from there I was introduced to the other visual kei bands. I also grew up with uncles that were into Anime & asian movies, so since I was young I had been exposed to the culture but had not really taken a deep interest until a couple of years ago. The music always puts me in good mood and it's also unique from american music in some aspects. I listen to all kinds of music from punk, electronica, rap, hip-hop, techno, trance, pop, etc. But for some reason when these genres are in japanese or korean, they give me a satisfying feeling I can't explain. I also went to a concert here in the U.S. and got to see D'espairs Ray and MUCC play at Rockstar Taste of Chaos, they were truly amazing.

I listen to j-rock 100% almost nothing else (almost) My friends are ok with it two out of three do as well. When i tell people i listen to Japanese music they just think its fascinating how i listen to music outside of my own country. The only thing that annoys me is how people only get into a Japanese band only because they herd it from some anime or because how they like the singer and wants to marry them, thats how most people in this town see fans of Japanese music so when I'm listening to a band others think hey yeah that must be the song from naruto (and they pronounce it wrong) Or ベルトパンチ with there song crawl. I tell them this band has nothing to do with naruto or ベルトパンチ let alone anime. Listen to bands that have nothing to do with anime like ストレイテナー,椿屋四重奏,Sunsgrind,When the leaf seared, acidman, fact, northern19, and many more. They are really great and should be appreciated more than a one time song from an anime. But back in 2003 i didn't have an interest in any us bands, they just seemed boring so i didn't listen to music for a while. But then i found a channel on TV that had a show pop-japan TV witch had a lot of bands and thats where i found L'arc en ciel talking about there music and there lives, then i found another show called bento beat box thats where i found nami tamaki, asian kung fu generation, TM Revolution, and Guitar wolf, They were all great and was a start in my quest for awesome music. As time passed i looked up the bands i kept only finding one song from each one like Laruku's ready steady go, Akfg's haruka kanata, and so on. It was really annoying so i did the next best thing and bought Cd's and DVDs of them and bands that they were close friends with, soon after my list of favorite bands grew every day so i may know or at least heard of almost all jrock bands. Whats funny is that i only know about three to eight us bands and people go crazy when i tell them I've never heard of like the most popular us singer's or musicians.
