I love the music, melody, all in japanese music ^^

I listen to JRock because I like it. I enjoy the challenge of people calling me "weird" for liking Japanese music. I like that I care strongly for my music, enough to stand up for it when it's put down - and people respect me for standing up.
I like teaching people that America's music isn't the center of the universe. I like that JRock ALLOWS me to teach people that America's music isn't the center of the universe. I like being asked questions and answering people's curiosity. Of course, I'm ridiculed just as everyone else is for liking JRock, but I see it as a "skin toughening" experience :mtongue: If they don't like it, they can GTFO >D |
...the lyrics are only a fraction of the actual song. Sometimes I like listening to J-rock BECAUSE I can't understand it and it causes me to focus on the other instruments. :D Plus, Japanese sounds beautiful and you don't really need to know what they're saying to get the emotion...
A lot of English lyrics are ambiguous anyways...and rap. Heh. You can barely tell what they're saying. People give you crap for opening your mind to other countries because they're close-minded/ignorant and it makes them feel good putting down others who are in the minority. Don't worry. MOST of them will grow out of it and the few who don't aren't worth your time. ;) |

My friends pretty much don't care that I like J-pop/rock and that's as far as it goes. People don't TRY to understand why I listen to the stuff, so I never really get ridiculed or anything.
Not saying I don't, because I've run into a few people who have made fun of me. Like last year when I was at the Orange County Fair with my friend and her parents and I was listening to DBSK in the car. I was singing along to Step by Step and some guy walking by yells out 'Can you even understand that?!' It is very annoying when people get a lost look on their faces when my response is 'I don't care' and then ask me the same question 'okay but...do you understand it?'. I just wanna pull my hair out and say "THAT'S NOT THE F***ING POINT!!!" |
When i first listen to it. People did make fun of me, but then I showed them what it was and they liked it. So I don't care what people think about me and my Music.
