:D :D :D hi blur! something new about your car? :D

NonStopReaper 02-20-2008 07:49 PM

drifting is fun but i rarely doo it with my car .It eats up the tires and the tires for my car runs about 300-350$ USDa peice so i try not to do it as much. (about 1200$ for 4 tires!!) Plus i'm still in the learning phase of it and i reallly dont wanna crash my car into something. I'm just gonna buy another car for drifting. My NSX is gonna be for track use. ruinning GTon the track since thats what it was made to do. soo one car for drifting and another for track use

Kentaro4 04-16-2008 06:16 PM

I drift, but mostly I like to do wangan on the highways and touge up in the moutains I think drifting is overated since everyone is getting into it.

Aoiru 04-16-2008 06:33 PM

My Boyfriend does drift sometimes when I'm on a car.
It's a little scary, but it's fun!
Maybe when I win a lot money, I buy a car and do drift. haha.

LittleFallenAngel 04-16-2008 06:38 PM

DManator 04-18-2008 12:47 AM

I really want to get into drifting someday. There's no way I'm gonna learn how to drift in my Z, I need to get a hachi roku or an S13 when I get some extra money.

I want a Trueno!!!!

DManator 04-22-2008 04:09 AM

Here's a great clip from one of the JDM Insider dvd's. I highly recommend the dvd's, they always have awesome footage from drifting to wangan, even kanjo (those dudes are crazier than the drifters and wangan racers combined)

A cute girl that can drift is my dream girlfriend haha

yuujirou 04-22-2008 06:10 AM

FWD= failz at keeping sideways. its possible but requires alot of skill speed and alot of balls.

basicly physics says RWD>FWD when talking about "drifting" other wise FWD does have its advantages in other race events such as autocross or drag (highly controversal)

DManator 04-22-2008 06:47 AM

FWD FTL

I don't think I can go back to driving a fwd car. My Tiburon was only putting down about 185 whp, I had a really tough time getting traction on launches, and the torque steer was horrible. A limited-slip diff would have helped, but it would still be weak compared to rwd or awd.

Hey typesblur, what year is your Z? I used to have an 84 2+2 auto  Funny how I used to think it was fast when I first got my license lol

value1984 04-22-2008 10:55 PM

I think that for drifting the best choise is a 4WD... obviously with the transmission changed and adapted for this use.
With RWD is really easy to make the car slide, but if you are not fast and reactive with steering wheel (and when you are too fast) is really hard to exit the curve without going in 360°...
with FWD I've never tried...

it was a 86T 5 speed. i did alot of engine work to it and had it runnin pretty good till i blew the tranny goin up a hill

mine would run mid 13's on the quarter. now i have another 80's car im setting up for drift. and with some suspension changes should run around 12.8 on the quarter.

DManator 04-24-2008 04:22 AM

Here's a bad ass vid I found of a touge run with 3 cars.

I know the white car is definately an S14, but what is the black one? I think it's a Nissan Cefiro, but I'm not too sure.

Initial D is such a good and cool movie!!!!!!!
(and it's dubbed in Italian, too :vsign: )
have you ever played with the game of Initial D?

godwine 04-24-2008 02:17 PM

I just got a doner S13 with a torn tranny and busted rear diff, i don't know if i should try fixing it and trow in a LSD or should I just part it out and trow money in the SW20...

I drifted an AW11 before, the thing just keep going because of the heavy back end.. it was fun :) Too chicken to do it with the SW20... the car is not that well balanced.......

Automatics better for drifting, whaaat??

All you need to drift is a rwd car and a nice, open space to practice in, preferably at a track :vsign:

The easiest and best way to learn is in a RWD car with the basics:

1. Bucket seat
2. LSD
3. Upgraded striffer/lower suspension

If you're seriously interested in the sport, try these places for all the info you'll need:

Drifting (motorsport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
www.ziptied.com
DRIFTING, DRIFTING.com

and if you're in europe, Drifting forum - Driftworks

also, get some option and drift tengoku DVDs, or get a hold of a copy of the 'drift bible' - an informative DVD made by Keiichi Tsuchiya (the drift king) that describes all the basics.

and people, before you go on the internet claiming to be the next drift king, do a little research, more than just watching Tokyo Drift and Initial D so it looks like you know what you're talking about

ivi0nk3y, be honest, you've never 'drifted' have you? If you had, you'd probably know that FTO's are FWD, NOT RWD lol ;)

I'm not wanting to come accross like a troll or an ass, just want to prevent the spread of drifting mis-information that seems to be happening on this site :vsign:

Thanks!

wow i just joined to and i thought that japan was like heaven for drifters. kind of suprised to see how many people are miss informed

DManator 04-25-2008 12:15 AM

Drifting Forza 2 style!

I should get a second job so I can get a project car that I can drift for real.

typesblur 04-30-2008 08:59 AM

>_< i beat that game so fast lol for a while i was top 10 in the area in which i played including tournaments. got bored of playing with video racing games so i focused more on my real cars haha.

xX2DXx 05-02-2008 11:11 PM

I use to love drifting so much when I was younger, only a couple of people drifted around where I lived but when that movie came out about it people started doing it too. Its all fun if they want to race cool but when there assholes about it then its just annoying and no fun at all. I remember this mountain near by use to be so perfect for racing and drifting cause it was an abandoned road so you could go all out and not worry about hitting someone but now there are too many people on that mountain.

value1984 05-03-2008 03:19 PM

Unfortunately I know what you mean... for neofites it's just a fashion, something that is cool...but they are not passionate, they are not lovers... and so they waste the magic atmosphere that is all around this sport. That's a pity...

@Blur: Wow, I want to see your work!!! :D Your car will fly with this new engine!!!! Put on the pics, put on the pics!!!!!!
