Sony PSP vs. Nintendo DS
gamers around the world is goin gogo and gaga over this 2 device. but which one is better? in my own point of view, if you really are a gamer,, i recommend DS. classic games, super mario, FF Tactics A-2, Rhapsody and many more.
i like both.. but i like DS better.. how bout you guys? |
I have always loved Playstations.. but right now I have
a Ds lite with an edge mod card and IT IS AMAZING. 20 games on the memory card at once. Could only have 5 at the most on my modded PSP... [until it got bricked] -___- lol I love both but gotta give it to the DS! The touch screen and very interesting games are great. (Currently playing Pokemon Platinum, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, The World Ends With You, Trauma Center and Dark Spire..) |
yeah.. and the battery life of PSP is shorter compared to DS.
|
ill admit.. i love sony playstation. but the games! you know what i mean? im craving for the games.. RPGs! ^_^
|
The DS by far...
PSP games are OK.. but the types of games that get released for them are games I'd rather play on my PS2. Nintendo know that handheld games should focus on gameplay and novelty rather than graphics and sound. The touch screen is the reason why PSP will never be as good. |
I have both (2 PSP's amd one DS) and I like my Nintendo DS the best. It has far more games. And better games.
|
I have a DS and a PSP.
My DS is great and I love it:) but I think the PSP has better graphics and controls. (plus I have a ton of games, music and movies on my PSP memory cards) So over all I like my PSP better.:vsign: |
NDS, Nintendo ftw.
|
I prefer the Psp. I don't really like the DS screens, sure there's a few games on the DS I would like to play but otherwise I'm content with my psp. Maybe if I got a DS in the future and played it for a bit I would get use to the screens, but right now it turns me off because of those.
|
I prefer my DS.
If my friend gets stuck in games she always brings them to me to get her through that, she got stuck on a Castlevainia game on her PSP and she knew I've played CV in the past and brought it to me. I found the controls were difficult and I hated how close together the buttons were and how slim and tiny it was I have small kid hands and it hurt my hands to hold it. She has long 'elegant' fingers and a wide palm and I questioned her about how she could manage and she shrugged and told me she smashes buttons until she eventually hits the right one  |
I have a DS although I want to get a PSP because it has a wider range of games in the genres I like and it has better graphics. The DS games are more interactive. DS all the way!
|
It's sad.
The question was "Which is better?", not "Which do you prefer?" Even the OP responded to the wrong question. In terms of power and capability I say the PSP wins, it may not be an easy victory, but it definitely crosses the line first. PSP has the XMB (XrossMediaBar)- easy access to any content (video, music, game, friends..etc) In terms of graphics, SONY wins this as they have with current-gen consoles. Games - This one goes either way, really. DS has classic games as the Mario series, Zelda, and the ever-so-popular Pokemon games. However, the games on the DS are more fun-oriented games. They lack the emotion bond found in such games as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (anyone who's beat the game knows what I mean.. some man-tears shed during the last cut-scene), God of War: Chains of Olympus. Network capabilities - I would argue the PSP takes this one, too. Granted wireless play between friends is easier with DS right now, as ad-hoc (?) isn't currently available in the US, but the ability to search the web, and to wirelessly connect to the PS3 (if you have one) and stream vids and music and view pictures stored on it is a note-worthy feature. Up-coming games - I don't claim to keep up with DS releases but this year is looking promising for the PSP, Rock Band: Unplugged releases this year, ad well as LittleBigPlanet and Assassin's Creed 2 will be finding its' way onto the handheld. The Duke Nukem Trilogy, Gran Turismo Mobile, and this next game gets a sentence all to itself. Dissidia: Final Fantasy hits the US this Summer. So, yea, overall I would say the PSP is Better, technically speaking. If anyone has a different outlook, feel free to (intelligently) re-butt anything I just said... *If anyone wants specific sources feel free to request them (or Google them), I don't feel like finding links for all these now. *interesting tid-bit, I own a PSP and my gf has a DS, it's quite the interesting relationship....lol |
i love the ds! exspealy playing CoD world at war! (call of duty)

I like both, but now im kinda leaning toward the PSP. haha
|
I have both a PSP & a DS. & i prefer my PSP.
in the same way that the wii doesn't make a better console than the PS3 just 'cause it has a wii-mote, the touch screen of a DS doesn't make it better than the PSP. people keep whining about how the PSP doesn't have much games for it or whatever, then go use pandora on it. it'll give you a wider selection of games. |
personally, I play my dsi more, but after a while I want to play some larger games with better graphics like gta:lcs (shame mine got stolen :( )
|
I have both. I think I like the DS better especially now that I have the DSi, but I end up playing the PSP more because of games like Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, etc.
|
Well i have both systems, and i enjoy them pretty equally at the moment.
The ds seems to have more pick up and play games, where as the psp has more immersive games, plus I have been flying a lot lately, so those umd movies are pretty sweet on 3 hour plane rides :) (and i've bought quite a few for 5 bucks at gamestop) So i chose both...BUT, the new DSi. I haven't had a chance to get one yet, but i like what i see, that might tip the scales in ds' favor. |
If I got one of them I'd get a DS. Though, is the new DSi much better then it's older versions? Except of the built in camera and slimness, what's new?
|
I had both, and ended up selling my DS in order to help the funds for a PS3 :P
I love Sony, I ain't gonna lie. But seems like I'll need to buy another DS for the new Pokemon games. |

Great thread as I have no idea, but strongly considering purchasing one for my 2.5 year old son and dad will do most of the playing;) So all in all, I shall take your advice and purchase the DS? Is that the SONY Playstation model? I don't really need all the other fancy parts. Just a machine that plays games when attached to the TV, afterall, I already have a DVD player, computer with hard drive, etc. ALl help much appreciated:) |

I always liked PSP more, probably because I'm a Final Fantasy freak and wanted Crisis Core so badly.

There are more mature titles but when your kid gets at that age I guess a new console will come. :mtongue: |
I knew I would be outnumbered...
I love my PSP. I use it EVERYDAY, and it's just amazing. I've done so much with it more than I ever have done with my bff's DS I stole from her because she doesn't play it. |
PsP. Reasons are UMD videos, MP3, Inernet Browser and good games like "Crisis Core", "FF1 & 2", "Guilty Gear" etcetc. The battery life is not as good as a DS but it does last me a solid day of playing so its good enough. I do like the DS but the PsP wins for me by a tiny fraction because the new DSI cannot play MP3 format sounds, not as good browser and cameras? My mobile has a much better camera with 8 Mega Pix and flash haha. Yea, PsP rules :D
|
DS all the way. PSP does not have Megaman Star Force
|
Nintendo DS the games are funner and theres more variety.
|
PSP.
Nice screen. Nice sound. When you play on it, it's really easy to get into the game. |
the ds has the best rpgs psp has really good action games
|
i'm thinking of buying a PSP next month. i hate the thing that @ some games you DO have to use the goddamn pen in DS. it should be option i don't think the gameplay gets any enhancement by using that device
|
I've got to hand it to the PSP.
Of course, this is coming from a modders perspective. The homebrew capabilities on the PSP far outnumber the DS's. In my opinion anyways. The PSP has a nicer screen, better sound. The ability for me to store as much "stuff" on a 16GB memory card on the PSP as you can really gets me too. |
