Last Gen vs Current Gen..
This is the battle that really matters..
Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox VS. Wii, PS3 and 360. I've gotta say last gen wins..I just had more fun during that time. |
The graphics these days are so detailed it's hard to stay focused... I spend more time zooming in on the walls, going "These brick textures are amazing" than actually playing the game...

But seriously, GameCube didn't have enough time to shine. |
Screw them both. SNES is where it's at yo.
Donkey Kong Country FTW |
Sure, it's easy to say "SNES 4 life", but that's like comparing a windup camera to a digital camera, apples and oranges.
There's a difference between gaming of that generation and games on these days. |

Last gen by far. My good gaming memories are from then.
Klonoa : Door to Phantomile, FFVII, Harvest Moon, KirbyN64, Yoshi's Story, Banjo-Kazooie, etc, etc... <3 |

I still love my PS3... But like you said. It's not the same. |

EDIT: yoshi's story = WIN |
I agree with RKitagawa, snes was the console with the first generation awesone games (imho), chronotrigger, terranigma, streetfighter....so good....

PSone takes my vote.

Anyways, I'd have to say the last gen takes the vote for me. Sure games nowadays look fantastic, and pretty much resemble real life. Backgrounds, water, cityscape, etc. all look phenomenal. But something was lost when they started pumping everything into the "looks" of a game. They sacrifice story for gameplay. Now instead of having a 13-30 hour game, you get a 6-8 hour game, with a rushed story and poor character development. Or you get boring gameplay, with a good story and a rushed ending. In the past, games had a great balance of both story and graphics. There are a few PS3/Xbox360 games that are outside this. Such as Oblivion, Metal Gear, Fallout, Devil May Cry, etc. All those games look amazing, play awesomely, and have a great story and good development. |

I'm so far behind in my gaming that I've only played one and a half Wii games as of yet. . . . Both are great, but my vote goes to "last gen." I'm still working on my stack of unplayed, awesome PS2 and GC games.

Seems to me I spent more time on one game last gen, and this gen I want to play EVERYTHING.

And I went to play it, all my files were erased. So Now Im starting all over again. Donkey Kong is awesome. :) |
I remember playing psx and going to ps2 and 64 and snes nes but lately i am not having as much fun as i used to. Its like a hot girl with the fucking brain of a cat.(which isn't too unlikely i bet)
I played spyro, mario( the good ones not mario tennis. thats an embarassment.) banjo kazooie crash bandicoot zelda metroid. I think the only games that have gotten a necessary improvement have been shooters. The new gen killed resident evil. Even when they tried to remake old game series they suck.(banjo kazooie nuts and bolts) |
Since when the previous generation became last? Anyway between the two, I'd choose the previous.
I remember PS1 came out people were literally saying WOW! when they saw the games like Crash Bandicoot, Resident Evil or Twisted Metal and pretty much the same happened with previous gen. games when they showed up. The difference between the graphics was much more noticeable and games like RE 4, Fatal Frame, Halo showed new ways of playing. While I'm kinda disappointed in current gen. games, the graphics are nice but I expected something more. |

You understood what he meant just fine, you're just doing it to piss people off, bad troll is bad.

i prefer current gen games not only due to the graphs but specially for the online gaming. i can't play a game which doesnt have the logo "Playstation Network" anymore.
the fun is never gone when u can just play online forever and anytime |
I enjoy older games because they are more of a challenge todays games arent terribly difficult and it dosn't feel as eventful when you beat a game.

can't compare KZ2 to RE3 dude, they're totally different. I guess u could say you'd rather play RE3 than RE5.
still, i prefer RE5 than RE3 anyways. i think it's still hard to beat besides the engine is much better |
o_________o
Uhhh, I personally like both generations. I grew up on an N64, and then later started to play the NES, SNES, Gamecube, Wii, etc. But I also grew up on a Sony Playstation at my friend's house and then later started playing Xbox too. So honestly, video games are just video games. It's entertaining, sometimes frustrating, and loads of fun. Enjoy playing them instead of caring about the little things such as detail and crap. Online play seems to be really faulty these days. The person you're playing with might not have a strong internet connection, but even when you have a strong internet connection, the gameplay is still laggy and choppy. This problem is especially prominent in King of Fighters 12 and Soul Caliber 4. Both Playstation 3 games, and both decent games, but it really aggravates me when you're playing with a friend and then the connection just dies out. That's enough ranting on my part. |
