So somewhere south, but away from the ocean.
I wouldn't want to live too close to the big citys, but I wouldn't find that as a disadvantage.

Either Naha, Yokohama, or Sapporo... Naha is just really beautiful and I have so many friends who live there, so that's a natural choice. Yokohama because it's far but close to Tokyo and I have a "special" friend there. Sapporo because it looks so beautiful and the Summers are so nice from what I've read and heard. Harsh Winters are something I can put up with though...

I would stay in Chiba (Utase), love it here!

~30 mins from tokyo, very beautiful place, also has beautiful country side area as well.

Kyoto, it's peaceful.
