Plug adaptors? - 04-13-2009, 12:44 PM

I'm going to Japan for the first time in three weeks, and I want to bring things like my DS, camera and such. The problem is that here in Norway we have the type C plugs and in Japan they use the type A. I have no clue when it comes to electronics so I need some help with this.

Do I need some kind of adaptor/converter of some sort? Will is be okay when my electronic things are 250V and there is 100V in Japan?

adaptors are really easy to find. multiple shops like elkjøp and expert has them(I'm from Norway too). The number of volt can be a problem though. When i was in england last year, my electric razor wouldn't work because the power outlet in the bathroom only had 100v.

GO to radioshack

Ask for a foreign travel adapter for japan

Tell them your device has the transformer built into it.

It shouldn't be difficult to find a Type C to Type A (or B) adapter, I have a few of them myself.

For the second part of your question, it depends on the power supply for your DS and Camera. If you look on the power supply (little transformer), it should have a power rating, some new appliaces are regulated, so they will take anything from 110vac-250vac, so these type will work. If yours only say "250vac" then it will not work, and you will need a 1:2 step up transformer...

Ok, thank you guys for your help!
I've found out that I can bring my laptop (which I was most concearned about) to Japan, and that I only need the type C to type A adapter.
