Thumbs up Teaching English in Japan - Working for INTERAC - 05-15-2009, 09:07 AM

Hi there,

Does anyone have any experience of working for INTERAC teaching english?
Ive gone through the process here in the UK and Ive been offered a contract for 6 months. Some details of what Ive been offered:

Pay: 230,000/mth + 20,000/mth attendance bonus
Working hrs: 29.5/week - does this sound like a lot?

Optional 5,500 Health insurance stuff - does this sound like a good idea?

So basically has anyone got any comments or experiences to share?

Many thanks!

Sounds OK to me for a 29.5 hour week.

I was working a 40 hour week for 320,000 (Gross) and then the work load would usually increase with extras..

Cheers - Oz

It sounds like the usual deal, with the exception of the 6 month contract (most labor contracts in Japan are 1 year in length).

There are worse places to work than Interac, but on the other hand, you will have little or no choice regarding where you will live and work (regardless of what they say). Without experience, you won't find a better deal with any other company. If you really wish to experience Japan, you should accept.

i agree, and you can prob renew the contract after the 6 months for a year, the usual starting term

I have no experience whatsoever on that subject, but it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. You'll have some experience when you leave INTERAC, so you'll have a better chance at getting a better job.

Good luck!
