Well the Australian Sister Cities Association - www.asca.asn.au - Home page should be able to help you or put you in touch with the office in your area. I had a look on Wikipedia and Brisbane's sister city in Japan is Kobe. If you contacted the City Council I'm sure they'll be able to put you through to the right people. If you're not in Brisbane just google the name of your city/town and "sister cities". :)

I got help from the Belmont Sister City Association (Belmont is a suburb of Perth though it's called a 'city') and also by asking friends of friends until I found someone who knew people in Japan.

Hostels can also be pretty cheap. All of the ones I'm staying in are less than 3000yen per night (about $33). I think it's good to have a mix of both. You kinda have to be on your best behaviour all the time with a host family. :P

yeah i would not mind that but staying with people is like. burdan! awkward all the time lol. hostels sound pretty cool. isent that like 4 beds in 1 room 4 differant peopleand like u take a backpack not a suit case and u always bring it with u where ever u go?

lol it would even be more awkward if u had a thing with the host familys daughter XD jus jokes.....

I'm going to be staying in hostels but have a suitcase. You nearly always get your own locker to store stuff in so you don't have to carry everything with you. I don't know if I could survive out of just a backpack! Not for more than a couple of weeks.

Haha, yeah um, hands off the host sister. :P

haha, at least we have a theory about the missing travelers!

yeah i wouldn't mind a hostel for a few nights but a host family would be a lot nicer, thanks for all of your help mate :)

now to save up allot more once i get my dam aristocrat i ordered XD

Hello! Your life story sounds kind of sad with your mother and all! But she sure missed out on a talented person! No wonder she treated you that way, she must've been JEALOUS! So, I'm going to ask you a question: I stayed in Korea (Busan/Seoul area) and I'm just wondering, is Japan anything like Korea, except for the Asian people? Anyway, if you could reply ASAP that would be great! Thank you a bunch! :mtongue: :ywave: :p :vsign: :)

how much paperwork do you have to complete to become a citizen? and, in your(or anyones) opinion, how long does it take to essentially master the language? and is it hard to go back to speaking english? Like everyone else in this thread, I want to move to japan also.
