Wow, I didn't know so many countries had an 18 year old restriction. I thought it was just a Japanese thing. And the person who posted that 14 and a half is too young, is absolutly right. I think it's too young too, and maybe even 15...........
I mean, I'm 14 and I could handle it, but some of the kids in my school? HELL no!

South Carolina use to have their age limit set at 14 or 15. The reason was so that boys who worked on farms could drive the tractors legally on the road to and from the fields. Now though they have to stay in school until 16 so there was no point leaving the age that low and they changed it.

I am feeling that North Dakota may have a similar case, but you also have to think of how sparsely populated some midwestern states are. It makes a lot more sense to give a kid a driver's license so they get to school and get a job easier.

At what age can you get your driving licence for motorbikes? Cause here it's set at 14. and those kids you're talking about could go to work on a scooter xDD not quite as cool as having a car but... it's better than nothing.

In North Carolina, USA, you can drive a scooter at 16, and you are not required to have a license to do so. But most people you see in North Carolina driving scooters, are doing so because they lost their license from a charge of drinking and driving.

In Japan, you have to have a drivers license to ride a scooter. There is no difference in age. To ride a bike with over 50cc's, you need a motorcycle license which I hear is hard to get.

Koyama Driving School

About $3800.00

I attended driving school for 325000, which appears to be the norm for this area. Going a day or two a week, it took a literal eternity. I think 4 months from start to finish?

People are surprised that the age to get your license in Japan is at 18...why? I think in the US the age should be higher. A lot of car crashes happen because of an idiotic 16 year old driver behind the wheel. It's stupid...you can't drink, smoke, buy porn, or anything else at 16, yet we're suppose to trust you with a car? I'm 20 now and I still don't drive. The reason being is becuase i don't feel comfotable yet. I'm working on getting my license but I feel better that it's taking me longer, then just rushing out there and becoming one of the stupid drivers out there on the streets today.

In Illinois you either have to have a normal driver's license or if it's a faster
moped you have to get a motorcycle license.
