Osaka is just as polluted and smoggy as any big city.

And kansai is HUMID HUMID HUMID, it's only just gotten cold enough for me to wear long sleeves and not end up a big sweaty gaijin on the morning trains.

seems like comparing the two cities is a bit tough as every seems to say they are soo similar... so how about this angle... Would you agree that Osaka has more touristic spots around it than tokyo? eg, other towns/cities etc....

Yes, that one is a flat out fact. Nara, Kyoto, Koya-san, Himeji, and tons of other places are very close by Osaka, no more than 1-2 hours by local trains. From Tokyo, those places are 3-4 hours by the VERY expensive bullet train, or 13-15 hours by local trains. (I know because I took local trains from Tokyo back to my home in Wakayama, and it took over 14 hours, and switching trains at least 6 times.)

damn. 12+ hours... I see, thanks for that, i didn't realise it was THAT long! i thought maybe, max would have been 8 hours or something (ie, only double the time of a bullet train)!!!

To transfer from Kanto to Kansai and viceversa, I use the JR Bus lines.
A trip from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka takes one night and costs only around 1 man yen.

About turistic spots, around Tokyo there are just Kamakura, Hakone and Nikko. Kansai has many many more, indeed.

the cheapest night bus is the "Seishun Mega Dream" where you can get 8000yen round trip from Tokyo -Osaka , but the space in between seats is really narrow there is no room for stretching your legs. The nicer ones cost about 6000-8000yen one way , much more comfortable :vsign:

Don't know how can i explain, but when i arrive at Kansai airport, i felts special, because i was at Japan. But Tokyo... Tokyo for my thinking is the best, of corse i like Osaka, but i prefer much more Tokyo... Tokyo is Tokyo you know? :vsign:
