Lately, I have been really interested in Buddha.
(Not religiously, but more as a prophet) Words of Wisdom: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” I actually sent that one to a friend of mine, in hopes of cheering her up, since she's going through a rough time. Actually, she's gotten into hard drugs and pretty much just destroying her future by getting into the wrong crowd. Even though she's hurt me and my family, by stealing from us when we let her live with us, I wanted her to know that she was my bestfriend, and I'll always try and help her. “Have compassion for all beings, rich and poor alike; each has their suffering. Some suffer too much, others too little.” There are a lot of spoiled people out there, and then there are people who have gone through so much crap, it seems like there is no hope left for them. A famous story for inspiration: “An old man is teaching his grandson about life. ‘A fight is going on inside me,’ he said to the boy. ‘It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you—and inside every other person, too.’ “The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, ‘Which wolf will win?’ “The old man replied simply, ‘The one you feed.’ From the book, Jeremy Fink and The Meaning of Life. For me anyway, it was really deep to be a kid's book. "Until recently, I thought it was death that gave meaning to life - that having an endpoint is what spurred us on to embrace life while we had it. But I was wrong. It isn't death that give meaning to life. LIFE gives meaning to life. The answer to the meaning of life is hidden right there inside the question." We've all thought about the meaning of life before. We all have different thoughts on it as well. For me, I think I am here to make a difference in somebody's life and help them from going down the wrong path. Even if just one person, I know that my existence wasn't useless. I hope to make a difference in other countries as well. One of my biggest goals is to help the homeless and the hungry in my own country, and in other one's as well. From Girl, Interrupted, another one of my favorite books. "Scar tissue has no character. It's not like skin. It doesn't show age or illness or pallor or tan. It has no pores, no hair, no wrinkles. It's like a slip cover. It shields and disguises what's beneath. That's why we grow it; we have something to hide." I hide a lot of who I am. I've kept a lot of things inside, even from my family. And everyone has probably at least once hidden their true emotions. Though I hate to have such a depressing entry, so I'll leave off with a cheery quote. There are no stupid questions, just stupid people. |
Reality - is just another illiusion... and the most boring one of all.

The supreme prayer of my heart is not to be learned, rich, famous, powerful, or "good", but simply to be radiant. I desire to radiate health, cheerfulness, calm courage, and good will. I wish to live without hate, whim, jealousy, envy, fear. I wish to be simple, honest, frank, natural, clean in mind and clean in body, unaffected - as ready to say "I do not know", if it be so, and to meet all men on an absolute equality - to face any obstacle and meet every difficulty unabashed and unafraid.
I wish others to live their lives, too - up to their highest, fullest, and best. To that end I pray that I may never meddle, interfere, dictate, give advice that is not wanted, or assist when my services are not needed. If I can help people, I'll do it by giving them a chance to help themselves; and if I can uplift or inspire, let it be by example, inference, and suggestion, rather than by injunction and dictation. That is to say, I desire to be radiant - to radiate life. That's my favourite passage. Some more good ones: "I have been trying to teach myself Latin. Not going too well, mostly because my teacher sucks." - Cactus "Utinam barbari spatium proprium tuum invadant!" - Yelled by myself at my Latin teacher [Translates to: "May barbarians invade your personal space!"] |
