Is your best friend of the opposite sex?

And that goes for people with gay friends too. Now obviously if you are dating the person they can easily be your best friend. However, does anyone have a best friend that they are NOT romantically involved with? Is it hard for you to keep it platonic?

MissMisa 04-03-2009 03:17 PM

All my close friends are male except for one. I have a few best friends and one of them is a girl. I get on better with males because girls tend to dislike me for reasons I can't really work out, and I also like things stereotypically classed as male hobbies such as video gaming etc. I'd never get romantically involved with anyone because I already have a boyfriend. I get the feeling that they see me as 'one of the lads' rather than a girly girl so that's never really an issue anyway.

acidblue75 04-03-2009 04:09 PM

best friend is always a girl......dont know why but it is.......we never get romanticly involved (it looks like it someimes rumors are fun things) so yeah of course the wife is my closest and best freind

PockyMePink 04-03-2009 04:34 PM

All my friends are the opposite sex, hon :ywave:

allie2590 04-03-2009 05:20 PM

My best friend is a guy, but we were dating at one time.

Koir 04-03-2009 05:34 PM

Does it matter what race she is?

And yeah, a few of them are. And nope. No romantic interactions, haha.

XOXkAWAIiXOX 04-03-2009 09:21 PM

Yes. His name is Sam Hau and he was born in China. His brother scares me.

SephirothVVC 04-03-2009 10:19 PM

most of my friends are of the opposite sex, and that goes for meeting new people too, i usually dont meet or talk to people of the same sex

superheel 04-03-2009 10:31 PM

I don't know if she sees me as her bestfriend but for me, she is my bestfriend.

KurtFu22 04-03-2009 11:58 PM

I have two guys that are my best friends, and one of them likes me and it is kinda awkward at times, and the other one i liked him at a time and we used to like each other in like pre-k it was hard to even talk to them at times but you just gott to bear with it, but now i have a boyfriend and the one that likes me still like me but its only playful......:)

sevenstars 04-04-2009 12:05 AM

most of my friends are female and yes strictly no sex just playing and having fun and looking out for each other giving advice that sort of stuff
sex good but i reckon frienship much harder to find good friends that is...i am best mates with my ex after ten years so it can be done

nobora 04-04-2009 12:46 AM

Yea he's vietnamese ^_^

hinata2 04-04-2009 01:30 AM

my friends are girls because most guys don't like me and its hard for me to be friends with them i don't know if i'm their best friend but to me their my best friends.

reihiino 04-04-2009 01:44 AM

I've known my bff for 15 years now. hes a very dear friend of mine...i tell him that if was ever crazy enough to get married, he would be my maid of honor XD

AlivPaa 04-04-2009 12:15 PM

Strange but i think for some reason we prefer someone who is more interesting, which happens to be in the other sex as they dont know what happens to the other.

A woman isnt going to understand a males processes so maybe its seen as like a interesting thing? Guys tend to hunt for women and therefore spend more time meeting and talking to women to understand eachother.
Its like a sub romantic connection, like a special friend connection which is always what keeps a friendship strong

crrichey 04-04-2009 12:21 PM

There is much truth in what you say. Sometimes things get a bit intimate between myself and my friend but something normally puts an end to it. One time she lifted my arm and put it around her shoulders. What's odd is that at the time she had a boyfriend so it was a bit awkward yet pleasant.

SHAD0W 04-04-2009 12:35 PM

Erm.. I don't really have a best friend as such.. More of an inner and outer social circles..

If they're in the inner one I'd consider them a best friend but in the outer they're just friends? The inner circle is quite large though - Mix gender also.

DarcyMaris 04-05-2009 09:47 AM

I don't have "one best friend" but those who are close to me are both male and female ^_^

Ryokosha 04-06-2009 12:45 PM

Most of my friends were males and since I transferred into an exclusive school for girls, they're all females now. I'm having a hard time talking to males now. My best friend was a male but he went to another school then we started not talking to each other. I only thought of him as friend but now I seem to develop a romantic feeling for him. Sadly, he was dumb. It's been two years but I still can't forget him. I still think of him everyday and reminisce our memories. I dunno if this is love because I do not have any idea of what and how it is. :quesballoon:

Kayci 04-08-2009 02:43 PM

most of my closer friends ARE guys.

Only a couple girls made the scene. LOL.

Iunno why.

ozkai 04-08-2009 02:46 PM

SaintKat 04-29-2009 02:36 PM

Both! For us three our parents grew up together and all lived close by so they raised us together too. It's really neat because I get the best of both worlds. My guy friend is really effeminate and is always keeping me in the loop about trends and music and whatnot. My girl friend is really pretty and a total tomboy, first person to teach me how to check oil and change a tire.

rison 04-29-2009 05:48 PM

quite funny, the opposite sex doing what the same sex should be doing.

I dont really have a best friend but back in school, was a dude.

My friends rightnow are my work buddies, matured dudes, dig them a lot and I prefer it like that.

Hi Saintkat

kei0kusanagi 04-29-2009 05:55 PM

My best friend is a guy, no im not gay. I don't get along too well with girls because im shy, been single all my life, (21). I do have a couple of girl-friends (not relationship) because they tend to be tomboyish.:vsign:  :vsign:

rison 04-29-2009 05:57 PM

Man up kei0kusanagi , girls like that. Not guys who hide behaind their friends.

Pexster 04-29-2009 05:58 PM

Yeah I have 2 Best Friends. ^^ One a girl, the Other a Boy. Just ask if you wanna know who they are. ^^
Obviously you won't know who they are except one.

LOL you sound like all my friends, always telling me to Man up! You know it's easier said then done. I'm not the kind of people that go out looking for girls to have fun though, this one time in highschool I actually man'ed up and talk to this one girl, felt like my heart was gonna jump out of me and kick my ass. Found out she didn't like me after I talked with her LMAO! Now I just don't talk to girls as a relationship thing, I don't talk to any girl unless they talk to me. I know I should man up but like I said, easier said then done for me atleast.:vsign:

Muahaha good, im here to confuse, ohwell I don't think I will tell anybody my Best friends anyways. hahaha I just wanted to see who was curious. lol

SaintKat 04-29-2009 06:55 PM

Hi Rison!

I know and I'm lucky they're both really cool too. I tease Stuart all the time about his personality (people always ask if he's gay) but really the females rule the roost in his family and I guess it just rubbed off on him? He's not gay, just worse than a girly girl when it comes to shopping and all that jazz. As for Tracey she's a complete babe (half poly/half dutch) with gorgeous green eyes and people are always surprised to see her tinkering with cars all the time.

Pexster I'm hella curious.
:D

coolforcats1 04-29-2009 07:08 PM

My closest friend is a girl and so are the others in my mutual group, but I have a lot of male mates which are sort of in the same position as the girls.
I seem to get on with guys well, sometimes better than my girl mates. :p

TalnSG 04-29-2009 07:36 PM

Mine have almost always been male. My 2 best friends for the past year have are male, but with one on the other side of the planet, Kyung Hee Jee has taken his place and she is a definite exception to my norm.

LuckyLuck 04-29-2009 09:44 PM

Technically no, but she's transgendered so yes?

Either way, it's not hard at all for us to not get involved in a relationship.

Pexster 04-30-2009 12:07 AM

Okay Im going to make this clear to the people I confused. lol

I usually only talked to the same sex.(Im a girl just incase you guys don't know. -_-)
But Seph is the only guy I feel comfortable around. He is the only guy acception. >.<
