I love being in this country, but there is definately some resentment of gaijin amongst a percentage (not all) of Japanese people. Even my (Japanese) girlfriend said it annoys her because she understands people look at her differently for having a gaijin boyfriend

I have spent some time in Yokohama, and never really noticed that. But maybe I was naive. I did notice that people don't really talk on the trains in Yokohama and Tokyo. It's like a library. In Kansai it's like a busy restaurant.
