Do you have a proper visa which will allow you to stay/work in Japan? Do you have a job laid out? Do you have your accommodations arranged?

$2000 is nothing in Japan. I probably spent that much in Kabukicho over a 3 week period in Japan.

Even if you obtained a special visa, $2000 isn't enough to convince the Japanese govt to allow you to stay in Japan. It definitely isn't enough as an initial payment for long term accommodations either.
