～～として has several meanings that are VERY different from each other. Not sure which one you are referring to.
「リンゴを取ろうとして木に登った。」 ＝ ～～と思 って

「だれひとりとして帰らなかった。」 = emphasizing the fact that there are no exceptions. "Not a single person went home."

～～に対して This has so many meanings. I won't be able to explain all of them. Do you have a large dictionary?
「あの先生は学生に対して厳（きび）しい。」 = toward ~~
「マリアに対して愛情を感じている。」 = for ~~
「それに対して何と言ったの。」 = in response to ~~
「あの人はイギリスに対して偏見を持っている。」 = against ~~
「アフリカに対する強い関心」 = in ~~
「ロシアの中国外交に対しての米国の中国外交」 = as oppose to ~~
You simply cannot say anything in Japanese without using に対して/に対する.
