Books to anime - 01-25-2008, 01:43 AM

What book or series of books do you think would make a good anime series?

What I mean is a full and faithful adaptation, not necessarily word for word but structured at the same pace, with accurate character development and plot aspects. The book or series can be from any country and not just a manga adaption. I'm thinking that the pacing would be similar to one or two chapters per episode with no maximum episode restrictions as a general rule of thumb.

My picks would be:
The Harry Potter Books
The Lord of the Rings
The Soul Rider Series (By Jack L. Chalker)
The first Amber series (By Roger Zelazny)
The Stainless Steel Rat and/or Deathworld series (by Harry Harrison)

I can't believe I forgot Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy which I think would make an excellent anime up to the end of 'Life, The Universe and Everything'.
