Ha Ha I always laugh when I answer this question because of many many different factors. I have to say that I am a little ashamed to admit that Sailor Moon and Pokemon got me hooked into it a little (when I was a kid). My Highschool had a group of people that got together to discuss/draw/watch anime and whatnot and I found that kinda fun so a few of the people in my classes intorduced me to other anime outside of the little amount I had kjnown before. I have met a few people in my area that have an interest in anime and Japanese culture and they always expand my knowledge and understading but the vast majority of my anime watching came from LIMEWIRE (when it was big). Ha ha BUt yeah all that to hide the fact that Sailor moon is my virgin anime.....

CUrrent anime:
NARUTO
BLEACH
SAMURAI DEEPER KYO
BASILISK

FAVORITES:
WITCH HUNTER ROBIN
BASILISK
GHOST IN THE SHELL
FRIUTS BASKET
NARUTO

My brother and I began watching DragonBall Z after school when I was eleven years old. We became obsessed with it. We never missed an episode. Then we gradually began watching other anime's that were playing at the time; such as, Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, and a few others.

From there my love for Japan blossomed.

I guess what attracted me is that it is quite different from western cartoons and in general offers a mix of all genres like action/drama/comedy and even horror sometimes.I guess that was what got me hooked.

I agree ... often time anime is much more story based while modern western cartoons are scattered and retarded with no character development or plot at all..... we live in an ADD AMERICA I guess

It's probably even possible to go through anime withdrawl. I've felt like it a few times.
