How literate are JF members?
I guess it's a fair question... But I don't see why it would matter. Personally, I wouldn't say these people are illiterate. It's a common thing, these days, for a person to type in half-written words and abbreviations. Sometimes such people do it because they simply don't care how they write, as long as their message is comprehensible. That doesn't necessarily mean they are incapable of writing correctly. Or maybe you're referring to incorrect word usage and message structure... In which case, I can't really provide an explanation; There may be different reasons for this, depending on the individual. Not everyone is a writer, and I don't expect them to be. As long as I can understand what they're trying to say, I don't feel it's within my right to correct their writing habits unless it's important. *This is a multi-national forum. Not everyone can write in perfect English.

I've been waiting for a thread like this.
I remember back then when I first joined the Internet community. I mimicked what others did (as in riting liek dis lol k get it) though quickly snapped out of it when I saw how stupid it was (someone typed gramatically correct English in game) and so decided to so from then on. Of course, this is only on forums and a few other places. Facebook and MSN are exceptions. There, I can be silly. Another note: Is it me, or are Japanese forums the most crowded with this? I've been to other language forums and they don't seem that bad.

Hmmm I'm the worst at spelling XDDD I don't pay attention to the way I type I just type but thats why I'm going into math instead of Engrish.
