Question When Is the Hanami??? (Cherry blossom viewing) - 01-29-2009, 01:44 AM

I'd love to know when the annual cherry blossom viewing starts, and for how long it usually lasts in Japan. I've heard it differs depending on region. I'm mostly curious about Kyoto, though. Onegai shimasu to, arigatou gozaimasu!!!!!

Perhaps stars fall, just as the rain

Until they burn on a windowpane

The grief of loss no written place

It is simply painted, on my face.

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.

No one knows exactly when until only several days before. It all depends on how soon the average temperature becomes high enough for the sakura to start blooming. For 2009, it's still way too early to predict even in the roughest manner. I assure you that in Japan no one is even talking about sakura yet when we are in the middle of the winter.

(Off topic but "to" can only connect nouns, not sentences. )

Its like when the cherry blossoms come out but they wont stay that long~!! Sometimes they last for 2 weeks but it depends on the weather. Dry weather is the best
