No one here has taken Asiana Airlines?

I did...

Airline: Asiana
When: August 2010
Flight Class: Economy
Departure Airport: I believe I flew with them to (and from) Japan from San Francisco with a stop in Seoul
Experieince: Great experience. Everyone was very nice and helpful, and the food was fine as well.

I try to take non-stop flights, so all airlines that do stop-overs are not factored in my travels....

Me too now.

I did fly Asiana once a long time ago and the experience was absolutely great.

But as we flew OVER Japan on the way to Seoul and then had a few hours layover and then flew BACK to Japan...... I swore I'd never do that again. It is already long enough JFK to NRT without going further .

best,

I don't know why an airline would fly over Japan if it was going there anyway.

It really is a terrible feeling when you pass over Japan on your way to Seoul... Especially when you have to sit in Seoul airport for hours and then fly back the direction you came from

But if it saves you enough money... well it seems like a good idea at the time!

Edit: And to the above poster, I'm not sure if you are serious or not but... They stop in Seoul because not everyone is getting off in Japan. That's the purpose of those flights; people are getting on another plane to somewhere else (and some are just stopping at Seoul).

First flight,

KAL
On-time, good food, friendly service (a flight attendant actually gave me her phone number when all I wanted was a pen).
In-flight internet service was a wonderful perk, and helped pass the long flight time.

Next three flights,
American,
All three flights not on time one was canceled altogether, and another flight was diverted to Osaka. I had to take the Shinkansen to Tokyo, and American never reimpursed me. Bags were put on the wrong plane, but still arrived in Tokyo ahead of me.

5th flight

JAL
On-time, good food, good service. The 747 "Jumbo" was old and didn't have video monitors, boarding and deplaning took forever.

6th flight

Continental

On-time, great service (first-class seats), my best experience so far. Within 20 mintues of landing at Narita, I had already cleared immigration, baggage claim, customs, and was sitting on the limousine bus headed to Tokyo Station.

Comparing First Class to anything else on most any airline is meaningless unless you are comparing only First Class experiences.

Any resemblence between flying Economy and First Class is purely coincidental.

best,
