I got to meet lots of people in a hotel called sakura hotel. i used to be at the entrance on the internet. All the turists got there and start talking and after 2 hours you already know all the people and have company to go to parties and stuff. Dont walk alone in tokyo. It could feel a lil bit lonely if you dont know others or speak japanese. japanese people are not great in english. if you want i could give you a few adresses of cool parties but i think you should go with other turists. Its a lot more fun and easier to learn how to walk there.
A very good way to start a conversation there is to ask turists in hotels and hostels if they know cool stuff to do there. eventually you meet cool people. Oh.... and most of the day tours you can buy in hotels have no young people so it could be hard to find friends but still a good way to fist walk there by your self.

If you are going to be in Tokyo on a weekend, you can go to Yoyogi Park and watch indie Japanese bands playing live - for free! You just go to Harajuku Station and then walk to the park and you'll see bands playing along the sidewalk outside of the park. From there, you could walk to Harajuku or Shibuya to check out the fashion and shopping.

Not sure how old you are, but Harajuku is more for younger Japanese kids - maybe Jr. High - and Shibuya is a little older - maybe High School and up.

But it's raining this weekend, so no one will be in the park!

As long as you can work the trains and telephones, then anywhere can be fun and nice to see ^^ If you're in Tokyo, be sure to check out Shinjuku~ It's an awesome shopping place <3 (I can't say anything about Harajuku or Shibuya because I had to leave before I got a chance to see them (long story, don't want to tell).

man.. where to begin....

well first off i live in Tokyo soo guess im a lil bias, but Tokyo is the more fun to be.

Kyoto = sight seeing.
Tokyo= toys, clothing, games, night life

Video games and gadgets- Akihabara *also few weapon shops and stuff*
Expensive Style- Omotosando
Video games/Clothing/clubs/ kareoki - Shibuya
Gaijin Nightlife, and crazy big mall *Tokyo Midtown and Roppongi hills, also Tokyo tower - Roppongi
Crazy style and interesting things-Harajuku
Breakdancing, hip hop, popping-Shinjuku/Mizonokuchi
Shrines in Asakusa are nice and this like Old japan style city place near here.. i think its Asakusa.

not very hard to find things to do in Tokyo.

i can walk around my self all day and meet new friends and have a great time.
