Why do many japanese want to have white skin?

Hey there...

I noticed that many japanese girls and guys want to have white skin. What's so nice about beeing white?

Could somebody explain that to me? Has it to do with the gothloli culture?

well maybe having white skin is like showing how delicate they are and such and no people where a jacket on a hot day just so they wont get a tan

alot of races do because they think that way they'l be excepted more. i do goth loli sometimes and im 3 1/4s black and i have dark skin so it is posible. you dont need pitch white skin to achieve the style.

My understanding is that girls don't want to get tanned because it'll come back and haunt them when they reach in their 30's or something.

And traditionally, it has been that way for many many years.

There is also a historical aspect as well. If you come from the farming household, girls get tanned working outside while daughters of merchants are spending their time on cultural activities such as flowers, tea, and instruments.

So even today, white skin is regarded as a beautiful thing to have.

For guys on the other hand, it's more complicated. If you are a businessman, certain appearance is expected. If you go to work with nice tan, people would think that you are playing around and the work is not the #1 priority.

Yea, I know.

In recent years, it is also about image as well.

Because of those kogals, people have negative images about tanned skin.

And I'm pretty sure that girls don't want to be viewed as cheap or stupid.

i dont agree that white skin is prettier than black skin. first of there isnt just white and black skin. there are different races and secondly not all races are the same. that cusing me. im 3/4 black. i dont wish i had white skin.
