Need to list so many other awesome snacks here - 11-10-2006, 02:28 PM

OMG! My girlfriend's family sends us stuff from kyoto almost every week.
Being a chef i have a natural love for food and am truly in heaven here.
even the stuff that most people would ask (did i see that on fear factor)
Oishi! I dont even know where to start in listing them all.
alot of you have tried some judging by the posts here.

Pocky is definately crack especially the Green tea (macha) taste
it is pronounced like Paw - Key.

one of my favorites is tako jerky marinated and dried octopus they sell it everywhere in japan and is like us buying beer nuts in the bars they sell it with your beer if you ask for it. it is real tangy and goes well with Kirin or sapporo. but not heineken LOL heineken is too bitter to match the vinegar.

I will post more as i figure out the actual names and descriptions.

Rice crackers wrapped in seaweed on my scanner. The taste is definitely special and requires a period of accomodation to get used to. Once I offered some to my friend Julien. He took one bite and ran outside the house to puke in the street XD Later Julien moved to Barcelona, Spain. I like to think the crackers had nothing to do with it ^^;

Wow that bag with little crabs is so unusual. Proably coz I haven't seen anything like it before

Yeah the rice crackers with seaweed has an unique taste and takes a bit of getting use to.

I like seadweed sheets. Its a small pack with about 10-12 small square/reactangle sheets and has a bit of salt on them. Its like the same seaweed as sushi rolls but with some salt on it. Thats yummy but not enough to keep my satisfied

then in my hometown in Medan, Indonesia there is a shop called Aji Ichiban and there really got a lot varieties of J-snacks. the store is quite well known in big cities in Indonesia ^.^
Nice We have an Aji Ichiban here in NYC too. But this one is Chinese though

Am I the only one who still calls Pocky Chocoteck?...it was the original name >.< my sisters and I have a fascination with the old name.
