This is one of my favorite songs but I don’t understand the Ryukyuan lyrics.
Wow, that sure doesn't sound like regular Japanese to me.
Awesome song, though.

Okinawa (=Ryukyuan) people speak common Japanese in hotels and shops, but they use their dialect between them in their houses.
I used to have a friend from Okinawa. He spoke common Japanese well, but sometimes I didn’t understand what he said.

Thanks! I love it.
Most people under 30 years old speak in Japanese... The only time I heard Ryukuan was when older people were talking to older people!

My host brothers and sisters always told me they understood a few words, but they can't speak it. It's unfortunate because the language is starting to die

Hi, Harold.
You seem to know Okinawa better than me.
I’ve never been to Okinawa myself and I’ve just heard about it from people from there.
People in Okinawa seem to losing their language.
Yes, it’s unfortunate.
Maybe it’s because there may be few places of employment there.
Many young people come to Tokyo to work and they have to speak common Japanese.
It’s really too bad the language is dying.

This is another Ryukyuan song.

Shimauta
