Hi, could someone kindly explain to me the difference between "換える" and "取り替える"? Are both verbs interchangeable?

Well, Masaegu and the others might know more about this, but for my two cents, I think they are, judging from a few Tangorin examples. I think the 取り part might add a bit more "conviction" to it, if anything.

Well, I've got one of my trademark listening questions to ask if anyone isn't busy:

(Additional context: the blue-haired guy's opponent played a card giving it the same stats as one attacking monster on the BHG's field; BHG's splitting his dragon back into three to reduce those stats.)
The line in question's around 0:12 (after he says しょせんは影法師), and all I can make out is その見合う and 数まで合う. =S Help would be appreciated with this one so I can finish this episode up, lol.

「換える」 and 「取り替える」 are not always interchangeable. The interchangeability depends on the object you are discussing.

Examples:
Batteries = intechangeable
Clothes = not so
Shoes/Socks = not so
Lamps = interchangeable

Things you can 取る/取りだす/取り外（はず）す, you can also 取り替える.

You cannot use the verbs 取る/取りだす/取り外（はず）す to say "take off the clothes" or "take off the shoes". Other compound verbs are in order here.
Think of what verbs you must use to say "to wear clothes or shoes" and you will get the correct compound verbs.

You can 「換える」 the things below but you cannot 「取り替える」 them.

Clothes　＝　着替える（きがえる）
Shoes/Socks　＝　はき替える
Writings　＝　書き換える
Cars　＝　乗り換える (You get rid of your Honda and buy a Toyota.)
etc.

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out. I speak a bit of Japanese, enough to get around train stations and ask for and follow directions and the like, but this it out of my depth. I'm trying to find the Japanese to a quote from Hagakure. Original, old-school Japanese would be best, but modern would be fine as well. I can get to an Amazon.jp page with Japanese versions of the book, but no further.

The quote in question is (from W.S. Wilson's translation):
There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance!
