I love the rain too!!! Thats so awesome how it rains so much in Japan, I heard that they get an average of like 6 feet of rain per year, but I didn't know it was like every other day... (that's why rice is the ultimate crop for them!)

One of my favorite things to is listen to some nice Ayumi J-pop, with a window open, while it is raining and draw. When conditions are like that, drawing is all the sweeter.

I suppose that is true if you're in a nice safe building.

Unfortunately the thunderstorms we had yesterday spawned a few tornadoes.

Aren't tornadoes pretty rare in Japan. I don't recall of ever hearing about one when I was living in Zama.

I loved the rainy season too. I was a helicopter crewchief in the Army at Zama. The rainy season meant a lot of downtime to chill out.

Easily the wettest country I've ever been to.
Been here for 4 years now & every year I've been here it has rained on average every other day from March to October. Yes that is about 6 and a half months. It is raining as I type surprise surprise. I have no complaints as I love rain. It's so emotionally charged.
In Japan though the official rainy season is June/July (just 2 months you'll notice, not the actual 6 months of pissing it down)
It's always great when you tell a Japanese person that you think it rains a lot in Japan. 99% of the time you have this half shouted response

"ONLY IN RAINY SEASON"

I always wonder if they can sense the rain that is pouring around them for most of the year. I mean they are always carrying umbrellas.

Yeah, we had one in Chiba but it didn't do much damage. That's the only one I've heard of.

I went to Toshogu when there was a Typhoon. It's usually swarming with tourists, it was nice to have one of the biggest temples in Japan virtually to myself

I like rain, but not when I am going to work. I have to walk to the station for at least 10 minutes and by the time I reach the station, my pants is wet. And I don't like my feet being wet.. it really really bothers me

But when I am at home I love watching it patters on my windowsill , spacing out, listening to music or chatting with friends online or just simply reading a book
