does it mean anything if a guy you've been going out with suddenly holds your hand? guy is japanese btw, he is nice but sometimes too serious. am quite surprised actually and I don't know what to make of it.. perhaps it's just nothing right?

updated to say thanks so far for all the answers and I got my answer from asking 3 japanese friends and they said usually they only do these things with a girlfriend or someone they want to be their girlfriend. Like, in their english, "maybe he is promoting himself to be boyfriend." hahaha

Well my answer is simple just follow the flow ...if he does it with romance feeling you should accept it. But if you think he does it rudely, just react aggressive ( what you doing ***) LOL. Depend how you feel for him

holding hands is very common/natural in western culture, since i do it a lots with girls who i don't know. We even locking arms... but eastern culture are more serious about it.

When im whit my friends... they always take my arm or my hand... and its really natural for us to do that kind of things o.o
