Housing in Wasabijuice's "Real Japan" - 10-07-2009, 05:01 PM

"In the real Japan you can buy a house for a few thousand dollars! You can rent a house for a free or almost free."

^This part of Wasabijuice's post on rural Japan intrigued me to say the least. Can anyone point me in the right direction if I wanted to purchase a house like this? It sounds too good to be true..."no cops, no rangers, no rules"..his words not mine.

I made another thread about getting a warehouse in Japan so I could play drums without disturbing anyone, and a very helpful board member informed me that I was right about the zoning laws but it's very expensive to rent commericial property. If I could get a cheap property in rural Japan and build a sound proof room to practice in that would be awesome.

Does anyone know of any rural areas near enough to Osaka that you could commute there in one day where one can purchase property? How remote are these areas? Can you buy homes that are off in the distance without neighbors or anything? It'd be rad to have a cool little house off in country side where I could jam all night with friends and stuff.

A lot of questions I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Basically my situation is I'm 22, I've got $50,000 in the bank (I worked my $%# off for it I'm not some trust fund kid), I just graduated college with a degree in English and I want to permanently move to Japan and teach English, in or in this case, near Osaka. The reason being all of my friends in Japan live in Osaka and I'm really into the underground music scene there. btw any board members here listen to Japanese experimental rock gods Boredoms? If not you should, if you can handle lots of feedback and sun worship.
