Obama vs. McCain
So it is decided tonight that the American presidential race in November will be Barrack Obama (D) vs. John McCain (R).
If you were or are an American of voting age, and could vote in this election, how would you vote? I understand this election, especially, has been news around the world for a variety of reasons. I don't intend for this to become a debate, but I am curious to hear opinions from around the world about this, especially unique and historical election in the US. |
I asked my american friend this same question, she said doesnt matter "they all lie the same as one another"
My friend is an attorney of some sort so i trust her opinion. in fact it is the same for most politicians ! |
Obama.
Because not only does the U.S but the world needs his peace. Everyone is just so violent these days... |
Obama!
Really hope he will be the democratic nominee.. This is the first election I can vote in, very excited about it! |

From what little I ACTUALLY know about him (Much of the coverage we get on the primaries are merely reports on results and the scandals and little is shown on actual policy). Obama would be a better choice in my opinion
He seems to share the same overall values as I, especially when it comes to health care. I was REALLY impressed by his race speech when his maniac pastor said those crazy things. His approach to foreign policy? I'm a bit shaky on specifics but I've read that he is more likely to seek a more multi-lateral approach to the various world issues. Not sure about his promise to lose Iraq though... there are good arguments on both sides concerning the moral responsibility of staying/leaving Iraq. |
If I could vote I woud definitly vote for Obama or Hillary. However, I'm not from the US -__-

George W. Bush was the best thing ever happened for the Comedy Central...
Who can possibly replace him? Well, everybody thought it was gonna be between Hilary and Giuliani but guess what, we still got John McCain!! Yes, he is back and although he looks like he's is about to die, according to credible sources like gallup tell us that it's gonna be a tight race between Obama and McCain if Obama does not accept Hilary as a Vice President. Personally, I have to pray that gook hater doesn't win because he is gonna come and get us!! |
I can't vote but I asked some of my friends who are of voting age and they all replied obama because it seems he knows what he is doing.
Plus they are democratic so that was a plus. |

I would be kind of surprised if Obama asked Hillary to be VP, actually. Some call it the "dream ticket" but there are a lot of people that don't like one or the other...and do you really think Hillary and Bill can sit around as second-fiddle? |
I havn't followed this a lot, but from what I've seen, I'd go for Obama. He just seems far more honest and human. He also seems to have fresh idea's, unlike others (ie, McCain, Hillary etc), they seem like they're just wanting to continue someones ideas.
But in all honesty, I don't think I would vote at this moment in time because I don't know too much. Also, as a foreigner, I don't think this would affect me much anyway :) |
I would say obama .Since hilary bombed out with the your going to get assasinated jesture. EveV not everyone is violent some people just don't the meaning of a true peace or how to use it.

I totally agree with you, but if Obama does not choose her or reject her, it means he's dissing her, right? She was smart and Obama should have announced VP candidate earlier. Now he is trapped...and the Democrats surely doesn't want anymore garbage cos McCain could take it since he has neutrals on his side. I mean Hillary is not given up and she's gonna run for it in the future if it's possible. So I think she wants to stay close with Obama in case he does well. Just like Al Gore did after Bill Clinton. But if Obama fails, it's gonna be the Republicans' turn again so. In the end, she is expecting the Kennedy tragedy to happen again, isn't she? |
May the best man win.

Tenchu, don't worry; if you want war, I'm sure you've got plenty of it in Thailand...I'm sure there are laods of muslims starting wars in Thailand because they can't be friend with non musilms  There's absolutely no need to hope for war everywhere else.

McCain got the nomination three months ago, and he hasn't announced a VP candidate. This is politics...not "dissing". Hillary has been "dissing" Barrack for the last 6 months. She should be on her hands and knees begging for the VP chance now. |
Quote:
You never cease to suprise me, Tenchu. For as long as I have been here you have taken a shit on everything American, especially presidential policies, and now you want to support the guy that will keep all that crap up. |

But the Republicans have nobody so of course they couldn't announce it earlier. Although she lost the race, Hillary does have another half of democratic votes and you don't want those people to turn again Obama. It is very possible for neutrals to vote for McCain and for those Hillary supports to not vote. I know the two dislike each other but Obama has pretty much no choice at this point. Because the Democratic party doesn't want anymore internal BS and lose to McCain as a result, I see the two working together regardless of whether they like hate each other or not. And about "dissing", you know what I mean. Hillary has been "dissing" Obama of sure but he talked shit back and his people provided some headlines for the public as well. She got away with it because she looked really desperate. But now, the race is over and Obama has to make a decision. Be honest with his feelings and reject Hilldog or compromise and accept her. |

It's funny though, through all the outright publicity of the Hilary/Obama conflict, me and my friends were laughing at how ironic it would be if McCain won. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all. I guess now it is the proverbial "crunch" time for that predictions fruition. Even so, I'd prolly vote for Obama if it were up to me, no matter how plastic he seemed initially. I also want Obama to win so I can see if great comedians, (like Richard Pryor) predicted correctly that if ever there were a Black president, there would be constant cook outs at the White house and kids running across the lawn  |
McCain's victory is possible due to stupid conflict between Obama, Clinton and theirs supporters. Some of Clinton's supperters declared their support for McCain's if Obama was the Democrats pretendent to White House.
For me the best candidate is Ron Paul, but he have no chances I think. Even the biggest funds can't help him. He's Republicans candidate, people are skeptical to Republicans. Moreover, Paul is omitting by media in USA. In other countries too. Situation in other countries is similiar. If I have to choice Obama or McCain I choice the Republican, but the best person who can save USA from crisis is Paul. |

If only it was so... Bush would have never gotten his ass into office. I would doubtlessly vote for Obama if I was a US citizen.. all in gooooood time ^^ |
I would vote McCain.
|
Blegh to McCain....
I think Obama will bring us a better change. Though I know it'll be hard for him....If he's gonna address what he promised and take care of loose ends that the past presidents left behind. But I had understood that she was considering taking his offer. Wish there was one news station that would tell you the correct facts. |
Obama-rama is what i have...not only do I agree with what he is standing for (the usual immigration laws, war, education, etc), but hes been the most recent presidential candidate that doesn't get on my nerves. A yes for Mr. Barack Obama!
|
Not an IF for me. :)
And it would never be for McCain, much less the republican party these days. Just counting down the days till that shrub in DC is gone! |
I'm a leftist (actually, ultra-leftist on some positions), so I would *never* vote for a republican.
I don't like McCain at all. If I were to choose between Obama and Clinton, I'd probably choose Obama anyway. He's young, he's part of a minority, he's open minded (well, at least more open minded than every republican out there and the majority of the other democrats). I'm happy that he got the nomination. As for Clinton being the vicepresident... well, a vice-president must agreed completely with the president's opinions, and Clinton has different views on some issues, so I don't think choosing her would be a wise choice. |
I AM A PROUD REBUBLICAN!!!! and i would never vote for a democrat at all.
[nothing personal, i just dont like the views] and i know that the war will stop with McCain as president!!! I SHOULD KNOW!!!! i know a person who went to war, Obama's ways are not the way to go. becuase there will be another terrorist attack like 9/11[may they all R.I.P]. i mean really, "sit down the israli dictator and compromise with him???" cmon! its not the way to do it!! this war started with stupid Clinton's butt talking his mouth off, we dont need another one. |

I have worked for both parties (actually even the campaign for the first term of the shrub's father) and all political parties are corrupt at their core, so I never vote by the party .... always the person. And though I grew up with McCain's peers all around me and I respect him, I do not want that perspective in the Oval office. |
I dunno, I'm still trying to figure it all out, My 18th birthday is ONE day before the election. So I don't get to vote.
I think Obama would be a good President, but I might be making my opinon more out of Ignorance than anything else.... McCain I'm not so sure about. After the Bush administration I think change is needed and I don't know what kind of change to expect with McCain. I agree with Taln in the fact that you should NEVER vote by party. I found the fact of the matter is that everyone (especially in politics) has their own agenda to complete, good or otherwise. So their motives and morals may not be as red or blue, right or left however you want to say it than you might think. And I've also found that election year cantidates promise alot of things, not all of which are delivered. I'm watching and waiting for now. |
I would vote for Obama.
NO MORE REPUBLIC TROUBLES LET THE DEMOCRATS HAVE A TURN AT THE WHEEL! |
I'd vote for McCain if I was of legal age...I really wouldn't like it if Obama won. I'd rather Hilary Clinton stay in the race and win and that's really saying something. I thought she and her husband did a horrible job in the white house. I really hope McCain wins or I'm leaving...But that's just my opinion.

McCain claims Hamas and other terrorist groups support Obama, so why would we be attacked if he is elected? Israel's PM met with President Bush today in Washington D.C. They have a lot to talk about. What is wrong with Obama meeting with the PM of Israel? I thought this war was started when the first President Bush didn't oust Saddam Hussein...but it's all perspective, right? |
Im glad that B. Obama won this elections, but unfortunately $I have a weird feeling that the United States are not ready to receive "this" President in the White house (too many enemies) I fear they are killed him before he arrive or during the presidential term .
But for the moment it was only a democrat elections, the real race has just begun |
Obama:D is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though I can't vote yet I would vote for Obama!! I am NOT a rep. |
Quote:
If Bush hasn't been killed then Obama probably won't. << Security is very high and there are far more bush haters these days then black haters. Then again nothing is guaranteed. |
I think it was coming since clinton so i don't blame bush .I think it was coming all along and i don't really like obama but i will probally vote for him though i am not one for governement things

Ok But there again...are U.S ready to have a Black American or Women (ok its a black guy lol) as a President?.....Most American president who was loved by the people have been killed ... (ok not Clinton ... But Obama is black ..) But Im not living in U.S so.. |
Anyone except Bush. I said Obama since McCain, wants to continue the pointless war over in the Middle East. Of course I don't expect anyone who gets elected to end it. All of them say that they'll do this or that, but in the history of the Presidents in the US, few have stuck to their words.

There is a program about it now, on BBC 2. I picked Obama.
