This is speaking purely from my art history/design background:
It is absolutely impossible to segregate fashion/art styles. You really cannot make one style only available specifically to one race. Society doesnt work that way- whats in demand gets to the public, one way or another. Art is a species thing anyway, so is fashion and design, HUMANS create it not any specific race or country. It exists without boundaries and location borders. So should Japanese fashion NEVER be influenced by north american fashion then? That way it would be truly Japanese right? Cuz it already has been, sorry. Its ridiculous to say "only Japanese people can have this style"- But of course youre entitled to your belief. What exactly are you going to do to prevent the rest of the world from just copying the style and calling it American or French? And yes theres a difference between religious clothing or traditional clothing, such as kimonos, being worn for style purposes by people who dont participate or respect that aspect of culture--- and someone buying a Japanese visual kei purse and wearing it in Canada cuz she likes the music. But lets be clear. General fashion- brands, jeans, visual kei, etc, styles originally from japanese designers- is a worldwide thing the instant it develops and sells. It is influenced by the world prior to creation because we live in a society that doesnt allow you to exist without knowledge of the rest of the planet, and therefore cannot be said to be only Japanese or only American. Im abit groggy this morning so that probably came off as awkward but whatever..lol |
^maybe Kaicui is trying to say not all Japanese style goes well with everyone.. anyone watch the movie "The Last Samurai"? i watched.. Tom Cruise in a Samurai suit?.. just dont really match... maybe that's just me..
