I Very Much Like Sushi

My favorite is very simple.

Pork Katsu Curry :happypika: Especially if it's beef curry made with just the right spices and when they put the red and green peppers on the side. I love when my mother makes it a cross between it being spicy and sweet.

Other than that I like eating Unagi Maki...though a lot of people really don't like it. :whiteflag:

I like Natto too.

Except my Japanese schoolmates, I don't know anyone else who would like natto. And many thought that I was a weird Chinese for loving this kind of food. I've loved natto ever since my first ever Japanese classmate introduced this to me. I used to have a recipe to ferment natto by myself too. But, too bad that I lost the recipe.

My favorite way to enjoy Natto: Mix some freshly sliced green onion, beaten raw egg, soy sauce and (optional) very little wasabi to natto, and enjoy it with steaming hot rice. I consider this as one of the best treat I could ever give myself in a winter day, or actually any time of the year.

RETARDEDMONKEH 12-02-2006 06:34 PM

Yakinikku (Yakitori refers specifically to chicken) has it's origins in Korea. One of the teachers at my school has taught me this after I told him I love yakitori too.

My favorite is the shisen ramen shop near my apartment. After ramen I would have to say sashimi sushi, but I don't do oysters, mussels and scallops.

EbonyVampiria 12-05-2006 04:16 AM

Your friend is right about it being ginger, it is just the way they pickle it...can't quite remember more about it though

Curry is not native to Japan. It's an Indian import.

sparky 12-28-2006 01:04 PM

MMMMMM Natto I love Natto too. Nothing like rotten beans in the morning. :D Especialy in my Miso soup:eek:

Azuzero 12-29-2006 09:17 AM

Udon noodles ^__^

osakalava 01-07-2007 08:35 AM

I'm a sucker for unagi (eel). I've always seen it cooked with a yum barbeque-type sauce. Sooo good as sushi or on rice!
Also, if you're going to a sushi bar, I also recommend going for the magoro and chutoro (forms of tuna)- they are magnificent!
Sorry, hate natto! It's a unique thing to be non-Japanese and love it, so good on you to those who do! The only other things I can't eat are sticky potato and ikura (salmon roe).
The thing I love about Japan is every area is famous for some kind of food. Where I lived in Osaka, the famous foods were takoyaki (ball of batter with a piece of octopus in it), and okonomiyaki (cross between a cabbage omelette and a pancake). Anyone like those? I found them very tasty but fattening...

jpfinca 01-07-2007 12:13 PM

Shabu shabu is wear it is at. You got the beef and also the yummy sesame sauce to dip it in. Yum yum.
