Again, I have some vocabulary questions to ask today.

1. そう!これだけ可愛い子が、こうやって普通に俺と話を してくれるという状況は──以前であれば考えられただ ろうか!?有名な女子校のお嬢様と、夜に二人っきり。 ──だぞ?ほら、単語を並べただけで、とっても美味し いシチュエーションに思えてきたじゃないか。
Could someone tell me what 単語を並べる means in the last sentence?

2. 手持ち無沙汰な休み時間。俺は一人で廊下を歩いていた 。
Does 手持ち無沙汰 mean "having nothing to do"?

3. 零二「大丈夫か?」
??「は、はい。ごめんなさい、巻き込んじゃいました か?すみません!そこの階段から転げ落ちちゃって…… 」
Just to be sure, 転げ落ちる means "to tumble down", right?

4. Finally, what might 辛気くさい mean when it is used to describe a person?

1. It means "to describe in words" or "to itemize something".

2. Exactly.

3. Right.

4. It means "irritating", "depressing", etc. I believe it is used almost exclusively in Kansai. You will not hear it around Tokyo.

Thank you for the information. This makes much more sense since the story I'm reading takes place at a remote island in the southwest of Japan. :)

Hello everyone! I need help again with some words and phrases.

1. 「パンツまで……じゅくじゅくして、落ち着かないよぅ 」
Does じゅくじゅくして means "to get wet through"?

There are also a few words in an anime episode that caught my interest, but I need someone to confirm if I heard them right.

2. FZ 04 cut 1 - YouTube
Did the man say やはり裏があったな at 00:06? And does the phrase mean there were something hidden?

3. FZ 04 cut 2 - YouTube
Did the guy say お前の真名 at 00:21?

1. Exactly. "Wet and uncomfortable".

2. Precisely.

3. Yes, but the "true" reading of the word is まな. Not knowing the story, I just do not know for what purpose the author is making the guy read it しんめい.

Hi, I would like to know on what situation should I use "受賞する"?

Whenever someone receives an award.

delacroix01 11-24-2011 02:21 PM

Thanks again for the confirmation, masaegu. :)

I have a few more questions, if you don't mind.

1. 「ババを引いたな、女。同情はしない」
What does ババを引く usually mean?

2. 横浜町田付近に到着。
I need some information about 横浜町田. Is it a place in Yokohama?

http://i.imgur.com/uwUhG.jpg

3. そっちも考えなきゃ調べることだらけで間に合わない! !!
This line looks unclear to me. Can you tell me what the guy means?

4. とんだハジをかいてしまった!
a/ Is とんだ = とんでもない?
b/ Does ハジをかく mean "to lose face"?

1. Good question. In Japan, the card game "Old Maid" is called ババ抜き. 「ババを引く」 means "to pull the joker" in the card game and you have a good chance of losing if you pull the joker late in the game. In real life, it means "to become very unlucky".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_maid_(card_game)

2. No. It means "around Yokohama or Machida". Those are two separate cities that are close to each other.

3. Pretend you see a period right after 考えなきゃ. This should solve your problem.

4a. Yes.

4b. Exactly.

Many thanks for the clarification. :) What I could fine with google was 横浜町田インターチェンジ, so it was quite misleading.

Thanks again, but I still can't get the part 調べることだらけで間に合わない. Would you mind telling me what he's implying?
