I'm 39 whether I put on a beanie and play hopscotch, or hike up my checkered slacks to my chest and play shuffleboard. This "it's only a number" crap is for young people trying to play at being older or older people trying to play at being younger.

or people like to use age as a marker for many factors that aren't exactly determined by age x]

but then again... what point is there to argue w/ a bloke whose lost all his piss and vinegar and deems himself knowledgable of all aspects of life >.>
atleast more so than those of a younger age than himself x]

it's hardly worth partaking in a single sided conversation in which one person dominates w/ his own bias and unfairly deems his opponent as incorrect solely due to a difference in age >.>'''

Try again kid, and this time don't be afraid to apply a little logic.

tksensei 09-02-2009 07:03 PM

In fact, don't be afraid to actually say something about the topic of this thread, like details of your wushu training or reasoning behind your dislike of MMA.

What is the name of this martial art where a older person and a younger person throw nothing but insults instead of punches? Go back on topic.

I don't know the name of the style, but the practitioner is called either a "Net-Ninja" or an "Internet-Commando"...

tksensei 09-03-2009 07:45 AM

Soooooooo, what do you think is the best martial art and why?

Muay Thai. Because I do it.

Salvanas 09-03-2009 09:25 AM

There is no best Martial Art.

I'm starting training with a Shaolin Monk in the near future, and atm, I'm doing Tai Chi.

Sadly no, but there's a Monk from the Shaolin Temple who teaches it around here. Gonna do some 1 on 1 sessions.

Hey, I've just read the last few days of posts on here. Wow, not impressed at all.

tksensei: what is it you study? or do you teach a martial art? In fact, what do you think is the best martial art and why?

There is obviously no answer to a question like that, and anyone who gives you an 'answer' is either promoting his personal favorite or is just full of shit.

As for me, I'm a wrestler - been at it for 32 years now, but I've also studied for years in China and Japan and the US in a number of different MAs and whenever I can learn something new and/or mix it up with folks from different backgrounds I consider that a positive.

And you've a shred of evidence to prove it? This is the place to post MA pics and vids...

LOL! You need proof? Does that mean you were impressed, or just wierd? I'll tell you what champ, you feel free to go ahead and believe whatever you want. You will anyway.

No, I don't really need "proof", more so, understanding.

I'm still trying to figure out why you're here and trolling me. It's odd...

Why do you think I believe whatever I want?

I wondered about which matrial art you think is the best and why.
I'm doing some JKD (Jeet Kun Do).

Quote:

Myself i've trained the korean sport Teakwondo some years ago in the local club.

But i want to start training again and I don't know which matrial art to join this time ..
If you're an expert in Teakwondo I suggest that you move to JKD or another fist-fast training sports (boxing would be a choice too), otherwise stick to Teakwondo...better not losing your old experience you gained so far :)

The theory that in MMA, no single art ever dominates. Every time someone just trains in one single style they get owned.

kenshiromusou 10-04-2009 01:33 AM

I am a "brazilian" jiu-jítsu practitioner, but I don't think there is a martial art better than other.
There are, indeed, different people. UFC of today is the proof.
So, I believe you just have to like the art.

What does MMA have to do with this? Or are you reffering to UFC?

A similar thing to prove you're wrong would be, not MMArtist ever does well in a Boxing match, ever.

So what's the point?

tksensei 11-04-2009 05:40 AM

The point is that you are the deadliest man in Thailand!

LOL

That is because boxers are very well adapted to their sport. If an MMA is forced to fight by the rules of just boxing, a boxer will win every time, but in a regular fight (meaning not very many rules other than the groin shots and such) an MMA fighter will win hands down because a boxer will not be able to handle any ground game.

On another point. MMA is the combination of martial arts, alone there is no way to say one is better than the other. Also, every fighter develops his or her own style, meaning their way of fighting in their sport isnt the same as everyone else.

I train in muay thai, and I can say it is VERY effective against most other fighting styles. However, like I said before it all depends on the fighter and his or her own style, determination, focus, and skill.

A Boxer is adapted to Boxing, an MMA fighter is adapted to UFC. No shit.

How about we settle this over a game of golf? LOL

What I'm saying, these are both sports. Single style MArtists do not get "owned". People who go into a sport they're unfamiliar with are the ones who get owned.

On the street, there's no proof of anything, however.

Um, so then when "single style MArtists" go into a context encompasing more than their single style...?

tksensei 11-04-2009 09:48 AM

or is it 'chump'?
