I can recognize 500 kanji and write about 200 of them. My goal is to be able to actually write the ones I can recognize then I'll try to shoot for 600 next.

Now I only now one (木). I haven't had much time to dedicate to truely studying them, but the Summer holidays are coming and I'll work hard to learn as many as possible (and the Japanese language also, of course).

Anyway, Im a 15-turning-16 year old high school student in Year 10. I study Japanese and in this first term I have managed to be able to recognise 200 kanji. Just so you know the record at my school is 300, set by a year 12 a few years back.

Now I am wondering.... how many can you all read? In other words, I would like to know if I am going well =D
I can probably read over 2,000 Kanji characters...

I haven't been keeping track, so I really have no idea, but I would hope that I at least recognize (and at one point should have been able to write) 800. They don't have 4th year at my college, so I've only been taking Japanese conversation, so I haven't been writing much.

I've learnt a few.
Mainly because anytime I used the bathroom,
I was looking at them (they were on the tub
curtains) So I know some like Harmony, Love,
Trust, Tranquility, Peace, etc..
